  1. Hi Gents

I understand that to buy/own a semi-auto shotgun with more than a 2 or 3 shot capacity you need to put it on your FAC. I do have a SGC and FAC so its just a case of putting a variation in.

Just wondering what you would need to put on the form? Do you need to put how many cartridges you want to hold and capacity of shotgun etc etc ?

    Thanks in advance

  2. Hi Guys

Just wondering if anyone of you have had experience or seen a stainless steel barrel and action start to go rusty ?

I took delivery of a new rifle in SS 3 weeks and its only been out the cabinet once and to my amazement today I noticed that its started to go rusty in a few places.

When the rifle was last out it had been cleaned / wiped down etc and the cabinet has got 4 descicant bags in so I cant see that attracting moisture.

I work offshore and for years now we have being seen a vast difference in the quality of marine grade stainless(316), when we have approached manufacturers about this they say its because the quality of raw materials they are being supplied are inferior due to the high demand....

Is just a suprise to spend all that money and the bloody thing going rusty.

    Cheers

  3. Nowt like a picture of the first with the new gun  But loose the habit of hanging the bino`s off the sticks it makes you look like a pretender ;)

I dont know why some people need to have a dig, each to there own I say. I can understand if its an un safe act but thats OTT.

Anyway nice picture, thinking about the same rifle in 6.5 x 55

  4. Hello Gents,

When I get back home I am going to put in for a variation. Now I understand to do this you must surrender your FAC and submit this with your application. The question is can I continue shooting with my .22 whilst my license is away. Would it be okay to carry a copy of your FAC or would it be a case of no shooting until your FAC is returned.

    Thanks in advance

  5. HMR will drop a fox cleanly as will .22lr/WMR, IF the bullet is placed correctly. The problem with using a rimfire compared to a centrefire is that if your shot placement isnt spot on there is a high chance you will end up injuring the fox instead of killing it cleanly.

Centerfires give you much longer range and a greater margin for error should you pull the shot etc.

At the end of the day if you want to take the occasional close range fox in good shooting conditions then as long as your constabulary allows it you should be okay BUT.............

I would however opt for a dedicated centerfire to ensure humane kills. There are many different calibres that would all do the job, and you would pick up a second hand rifle fairly cheaply to get you started. :good:

sometimes youve got to put the welfare of the quarry first, before trying to save yourself a few quid

    What would you recommend ?

  6. Hi Guys

Just wanting a bit of advise here. On one piece of land I have permission on there seems to be a few foxes about. I am wondering if the hmr would be capable of doing the job effectively? The reason I am not thinking about a centre fire just yet is I have a Sako Quad and it might be the cheaper option just to buy a spare barrel for it.

But any suggestions would be helpful.

    Thanks in advance
