Hi baldie i have not tried the G+C custom bullets yet , my friend is hoping to pick me some up!!!! I have tried the FOWLER 66 grain and grainers , these are very accurate and expand good too!!! Have tried BERGER 60 / 68 / 70 and grain MEFS , these are very accurate too with 6PPC . But i must say my rifle loves the 58 v-max - very accurate and really explosive on target!!!!!!!! Let us know how you get on if you try them on varmints baldie!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -

Hi no messin no offence taken its good you take notice!!! Just like varmartin says this land drops off into a big gully and back up to where we are shooting . The field over the hedge drops off deeply and when we are shooting long range the farmer is always notified and one of us always spots just incase someone is on the land who should not be!!!! As always you can never be too carefull!!!!! NO MESSIN how about a picture of your bit of kit?????? it sounds nice!!!!!!!!!!!! STAY SAFE AND TAKE CARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -

Hi everyone and yes i do not want to bugger up my hobby by taking a silly shot!!! I love my hobby to much than do something stupid. Now lets get one thing straight SAFETY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING!!!!! I know this land like the back of my hand and if you look to the middle of the picture this is where the gorse is where the bunnies come out. The board you see is safe even though we use it to help rangefinding , what you do not see is how steep that field rises up and belive me it equals any target range backstop so all shots taken are safe . If i had any doulbt about a safe backstop and w -

Hi no messin , the board in the distance is above the gorse line where buniies come out and the field where the board is situated is a very steep bank so the shots come to a dead stop!!!! I shall say this ,that we know what we are doing and we would not attept a dangerous shot!!!! SAFETY IS ALWAYS PARRAMOUNT!!!!!!!!!!!! we use the board to range find off when the sun is at its brightest. I shall say again that no shot is taken unless it is safe!!!! kind regards........................... -

Hi , varminting is mainly an american term for pests like prairie dogs ,rabbits . crows , magpies , foxes , etc . Our friends in the states like prairie dog shooting at all ranges hence the term long range varminting!!!! As for using air rifles for varminting thats no problem as long as you keep the range sensible with respect of a clean dispatch!!! We use centrefire rifles with frangleble bullets which virtually explode on impact!!!! Hope i have shed more light on the subject and enjoy your varminting whether long or short range -

Let us know what you think people and most of all have fun and enjoy the countryside!!!! Thought i would add picture of set ups on saturday. -
Hi guys some nice gear you have!!! I always find it interesting seeing what other people use and what they find works!! frank thanks for info on the long range rigs , I was drawn to the 6.5-284 because of the high BC of 6.5 bullets and the long range accuracy, I am using the a-max because they buck the wind well because of the high BC ( 550 ) and when used for hunting they sure do expand!!!!!!! Foxshot seen your pictures on your forum , well impresssed with your days hunting . Oh yes went with varmartin bunnie bashing got 22 rabbits so went to varmartins for barbe-que and had barbied r

Hi foxshot thanks for your question and hope you are well!!! I own two rifles now - the sako 75 in 6PPC and leupold MK4 6-20 - 50 scope and the RPA 6.5-284 with the NIGHTFORCE . I sold the 243 ackley so i could afford the 6.5-284. Now as for long range varmints i have enjoyed this very much . My personal best started at 427 YDS bunnie , then it went to 487YDS bunnie with the ackley impoved which my mate martin shares with me because the other bunnie stayed there!!!!!! this was over twelve months ago now this year martin has had a 642YDS bunnie with his 243 remington and i was fortunate to

Hi blando hope you are well , the answer to your question is yes they are expensive but they are worth it in the accurracy they deliver , money is one thing i do not have plenty of!!! I am fortunate that i live with me dad and we share house expendages and after that i spend most my money on me rifle shooting , whether its target / varmint / deer or out foxing.. Hope you do not mind me saying that some factory rifles shoot fantastic , but if you save for a custom rifle its more than worth it!!!!!!!!!! HAPPY HUNTING FRIENDS!!!!!!!!!!
-
Yes its most definately going for the 243 ackley improved!!!! I have always fancied a custom gun so saved up and bought me a RPA INTERCEPTOR , This has a RPA action and trigger , BORDER 1 in 9 twist 26 inch barrel and a robertson stock. This rifle was worth every penny!!! I was running fireformed fully prepped LAPUA brass / FEDERAL 210 MATCH PRIMERS / 105 A-MAX bullets seated ten into lands ans a charge of 47 GRAINS OF VIHT N-165 powder . This load was averaging 3150FPS and grouping in the 0.300 inch , thats when i done my job properly in testing it!!!!!!! This load was a great long range v
