Just would like some opinions please...not shot down in flames lol... Would it matter to you buying a pup bred from a brilliant working dog if it was not kc reg?? I have a great lab used for picking up, she is from a long line of good workers, but she is non kc reg. This doesn't bother me in the slightest, I would rather a dog did what it was bred for, rather than just having a piece of paper to its name. She can be traced back 5 generations of workers, yet I have been called all the names under the sun for having her as she is non kc reg...comments such as "how can we keep up the breed st

never been in this situation before, so just going by what others have said. I was told that the jag carries a high risk of uterine problems?? All the vets in this area are charging roughly the same. -

believe me, it jumped a 6 foot fence. or climbed it, whatever. however it got over, it was in my garden, sh****ng mine. You sure your lab' never opened the gate for it meaning what exactly?? For fucks sake, you never heard of a joke? Lighten up! yea, just not in a mood for laughing right now, came for a bit of advice. if i wanted a joke i'd go look at the twat who thinks i will foret about it. thats a joke. (better than yours as well ) Fair enough, maybe not time for banter? On a serious note then i wouldn't go in all guns blazing for the money or your -

As far as I know, I don't think I can either, but I will have a good go. -
Thursday night let my kc reg 7 month old lab out for the toilet after checking the garden for the male lab down the road as she is in season. All clear so off she went. Walked through to the bedroom walked back to find the pair of them tied. Dog in question belongs to a bloke who never has a clue where it is, it is frequently picked up by the gamekeeper and taken to the kennels. He knew my lab was in season coz came across him and his 2 labs on a walk and hubby told him after shoving them off my lab as he wouldnt call them off. While they were tied hubby went down to get the bloke who didnt kn

One of my patterdale's had a real bull terrier face when it was a pup-when it got bigger it completely changed. And just for the record my dad has a patterdale which was bought off "pet" parents; never seen such a good working dog, it's a vicious little bugger with rats and rabbits. -

He is to be a worker!!!?! He is to be the same as my other dogs, a ratter/rabbiter, all of which I have no problems with, they all responded the same (positively) to the same training-it's just this dog that I have the problems with. And maybe my post came across incorrectly-it's not all the time I find myself yelling at him, sometimes that is the only thing I can get his attention with, as he is not barking excitedly, he is defending his territory. It's the basic training he can't get to grips with, no matter how many times (and believe me I have persevered) and how much rewarding he gets.

Cheers boys for your advice. He is fine usually when he's out with me, it's normally in the garden and he sees another dog go past; he will bark, growl, snarl...no amount of calling him will even turn his head, and I hate the death stares I get from the people walking past with their yorkshire terrier on a pink fluffy lead thinking "look at the silly cow who can't control her psycho dog". It turns into me not even shouting on him, but ROARING on him at the top of my voice, which after 3 or 4 goes normally gets his attention. But then, the bit that gets annoying, is he will commando crawl over

Cheers boys for all your advice, it's really much appreciated. The way I work is I would rather ask too many questions then find out my own best way to do it, rather than not ask enough and put them (and myself likely!) off completely. I have found someone who is going to take me out this weekend and show me the ropes so to speak, so here's hoping it will go well, but I'm looking forward to it a lot! Oh and thanks for not making me feel a pain in the ass for all my questions Mick, I know it's really cheeky, but if you were willing to lend out a book for me to read that would be spot on

Hiya everyone, wonder if anyone can help? I have a 9 month old patterdale/border cross dog, who is turning into the most disobedient, uninterested terrier I have ever had. Although he is the only terrier I have right now, I have had patterdales before, and JR's and none of them have ever been like this dog, so I am stumped. He is from a line of working dogs, and I know he is only young, but if someone could give me any pointers that would be great. He has the most selective hearing-you call him, and he hides under the car/table/bed etc etc. I have tried the nicey nicey approach, the fi

Cheers lads, thanks for your tips. It was just that there are so many people all giving me conflicting advice on when to start, what the best approach is and all that. So thanks again, at leat somebody is keeping me right! Can anyone recommend any good books for me to get? I know it will probably be on a different thread somewhere... From the hobs point of view, would it be better taking him out with older ones at all, or would it make no difference? Would he be fine by himself? As for me, I have someone to go out with, I just don't want to look COMPLETELY like I have no idea what I'm

Hiya everyone, just wondered if anyone could give me some tips on what probably is a thick question...what is the best age to sart taking out my young hob? He is about 3 months old now, so would like to think about starting him off. Any other tips on just starting (ferret and myself!!) coz basically I have a rough idea but would like to hear from all you experts so I can get it right from the start. Cheers everyone.
