  3. I've got a litter of pups that are 5/8 bearded / border collie x 3/8 gh now the pups are starting to show good shape to them...... Nice long backs good feet broken coated and racey build to them .... Both the sire and dam have good build/shape to them so I'm not surprised the pups have turned out the same way.... So I'm wondering if anyone on here has used the same or similar type of dog ... I like a Hardy bunny basher that can be used day and night. ..... So just wondering how other lads have got on with heavy blooded colliexs

  15. ok lads and lasses what type of dog is everyone useing this year when they go ferreting . i,m useing my beddyxwhippet and hope to start a young 5/8x3/8 beardie greyhound at the end of febuary next year fingers crossed ,i,ll be out next week with my terriers flushing bunnys to the shotty as ive seen a few in the reeds and brambles the farmer asked me to pop up and sort them out for him and to shoot the last of the feral pigeons in his sheds later that day. would be nice to hear what other people are useing as i,ve met folk who use alsorts of dogs to ferret with mostly house pets e.g rough colli
  16. i,ve got a beddy x whippet 22tts got him at 7 month a nice dog but plays the dick when out on walks very friendly with people and other dogs........take him ferreting and he,s bang on , he marks a set lies down watches me net up waits till the ferret comes out of the box then he,s up and ready waiting for a bolter...he wont retrive nowt back just kills it ready for the next one......his recall when out on walks pisses me off and my arm is 3inch longer then when i got him very strong on the lead.......but very very game .....like i say no probs i cant put up with when hunting always 100% but v
  17. aye its rabbiting man dvd he got it off ebay seen ten minutes of it today looks ok the dog look 1st cross so anyone no how the dogs are bred
  18. Mine usualy go for £150 for dogs and £200 for bitches same their not the prettiest of springers but i am confident in guaranteeing that they will work if reared and trained properly.atb dell aye poacher the looks of a dog would,nt bother me as long as it grafts. like i said earlier i can get the work for it.......its doing the training like i say ive got pals who f/t labs and ess but they work diffrent shifts and to be honest alot of the dog training they do is while out picking up on shoots so thier dogs get intensive training and end up doing well in comps i might just wait till febuar
  19. me mate has watched a dvd with chipper smith working a dog called bobby and a bitch called nell i,ve not seen the dvd so cant say what x the dogs are but me pal says they are good dogs. off the top of me head they sound like 1st x collie/ghound so does [NO TEXT TALK] no as he keeps banging on about them and is it worth watching the dvd
  20. i like labs and can have a pup off me mate but an ess would suite me permission better then a lab i only hide shoot this time of year twice a month if am lucky but i do a lot of rough shooting all year round useing my terriers to flush for me . but like i said at the start of the thread i can get out beating all winter and enjoy the action a ess gives , a lab needs hip tests eye checks the works in the 1st year or so.......but thanks for your replys i will be looking into things with a good mate of mine to find the right type of dog
  21. hi all.....ive been doing a lot of woody shooting this last few month with my mate the thing is we keep looseing birds in cover and hay fields.......we both own terriers and lurchers but never trianed a gundog so how much should i be looking to pay for a ess that is basicly trianed sit stay and fetch will do, i can get the dog out beating during the shooting season no problems...... most gundog men i no say £250/350 do,es this sound right as ive looked at prices for pups just off the tit and the prices range from £350/500
  22. had a mate who had one, the russel in it was off good working background the saely was a pet but me mate dug to the pup from this union every w/end for years it was very very hard, looked like a small sealy he bred it twice to leggy russel bitches once after 4years then again at six years the pups 3/4 bred russel made cracking digging dogs . so i suppose the sealy added a lot to the russel, coat bones and head.only thing was to me it was a bit long in the body, but once he crossed out to russel types they looked in proportion
  23. hi.....was out cheacking about a place i ferret on and seen a guy on the public footpath walking 4 beagles 3of them tri coloured and one black -tan i asked what breed it was as it was an inch or two taller then the others he said irish kerry beagle a fantastic looking animal anyway i asked if he worked the dogs he said no and said if he let them off the lead they would be off on the jollies for hours he said the kerry could,nt help but hunt when off the lead and was a good rabbit catcher but a swine to get back on the lead ive never seen one before and was very impressed by its looks.........
  24. yep i agree i own 3 plummers and am looking after me mates dog which is litter brother to my young dog 9month old ive had them out bushing the last few days and just watching them work a line in and out of cover is very nice to watch the chance of them catching a bunny on this patch is slim until winter as its very dense at the moment the 2 adults are bringing the the pups on leaps and bounds i shot over them during the winter had rabbits hare fox with them they have flushed deer on my mates land with the 2 older dog standing on there back legs senting the air its the only time they really giv
