  4. I went out on Friday with the ladies and covered three sets of holes, the first two nothing but the third produced eight rabbits. I used my two albinoes and they worked well my sulking ferret I put a short length of para cord on her locater and let her a short way into the hole then stopped her and called her back, she came to the edge of the hole and stopped as before ( see sulking ferret post) I held a piece of lung out to her and gently pulled the cord and she came out. She ate the titbit and I put her down again and repeated the process minus the titbit and she stopped at the edge and when

  6. No it was a three holer under a tree she just runs back and forth to the holes. no fur on her claws. Her two albino sisters pop out of the holes no problem.
  7. I've been out with my three jills today which is the second time this year, they are six month old and handled every day. On both outings the two albiano's work very well and go in and out of the free holes(I longnet the hedge)and purse net the easy holes. The polecat mix has now on both outings sulked in the first hole and refuse to come out, over four hours. When eventually she comes close I grab her and she bites and hisses at me and if I drop her to the floor she attacks my boots etc. When she calms down I can pick her up no problems. I told the wife that she would have to go, thats the

  9. Following a recent holiday in Greece and reading Molecatchers book this inspired me to make my own net, I have have three nets currently 50,100, and 150yards all with poles attached and with cradles. my best night so far is 8 rabbits with one drop. when in Greece I went to the lacal fishemans shop and bought twenty 250gram spools of 210/12 (4ozs) and 210/24(6ozs) ten of each, this was called fishermans twine amd is used to repair nets. I have two questions 1. can you make a net of 30 meshes wide with the bottom 15 of 6ozs and the top of 4ozs this would help to make it more stable on windy
  10. I have just fitted a Chambers Ultra Premium Kit to my HW97k, this was to give me a little more range when shooting rabbits in a local pony paddock at the request of the owner. Before I fitted the kit I would zero the gun prior to going out at 25 yards on a 2 inch dia spinner, three consecutive hits being the standard. I now find the height elevation to be constant dead centre but the left right wanders 4 t0 6 inches since the tune I have even clamped the rifle in a workmate to eliminate the mug on the end and it still wanders. This may seem very basic to you senior members but I'm at my wit
  11. After having limited catches with a dozen home made snares made out of picture hanging wire I decided to buy 500 grams of brass wire and 100 brass eyelets from Euroguns at Doncaster. The problem is that the wire is single stranded. Can I use it single or is it best to twist it up with five stands and then add the eyelet? I've looked at the utube and in america they make the snare out of single strand. Is there a link to a page on how to twist the wire etc . As its pouring with rain here at the momement I can not go shooting I might as well get in the shed and make up some snares. I wo
  12. I tried my hand at setting snares last week, 15 set in runs on the pad marks, next morning no rabbits. In fact nothing had moved none of the snares looked as if anthing has been near them . The farmer has asked me to ferret another part of the farm this is a 30ft by 100ft clay cliff between two fields. it is very difficult to purse net due to its steep banks. I could longnet it but some of the holes at the base of the cliff look large enough for foxes and badgers and I have a regard for my ferrets. At the base of the cliff it is short grass then winter wheat which they are down to the eart
