    i've always just let the pup "exercise" it's self, not taking anywhere where there is a long walk back to the car etc .....especially important in this heat just keeping it steady too not encouraging it to go mad Thanks mate Just back and alls well. She didn't like the lead much but is getting better. Came back when let off and didn't go out of my sight. Met an 'Irish Staff' and was scared but got over it when the dog played with my other lurcher. All in all pretty good.

    Hello all A big day today as the pup is allowed to go for her first walk in the Forest as it is a week since she had her second set of jabs. I am going to take her with the whippet/Beddie but the question is how much is she allowed and should it be on or off the lead. I have heard horror stories of over exercise causing growth plate problems in later life but none of the books I have give specific recommendations. She is a dam Grey/ Saluki x sire Whippet cross Collie/Grey so I expect her to make @24/26 inch when fully grown. Thanks in advance

    Desi Those pups are a credit to you. I think you know which one I rate the best!! You want yours for a different reason to me so maybe you should go for the big black and tan bitch Mind you the little liver and tan with white socks seemed to be the most forward when I saw them. Rob

    Thank gawd fir that. I have been checking your post every few hours and I don't even know you. Even my Mrs has been asking if she's had them. All the best and I look forward to seeing the photos.

    Thanks for this and to those that have given advice so far. The frustrating thing is that we are nearly there. By that, I mean that she has done it before so I am sure she can do it again. I agree with you, Pignut, that I am sure that if she went out with some fellow hunters she would soon get it. Anyone reading this live in the area ? PM me if interested. Skycat, I hear what you are saying. If I got another pup I would do things differently. I will not give up on her though as even if she never catches anything again, she is still a great little dog.     Thanks mate. Yes a rabbit skin round a bottle. I will try that and tell you how I get on. Course the problem will be shooting the rabbit as she wont catch it

    Hello All Grateful for advice from the old hands on here if you can spare the time. I have a two year old Beddy Whippet that I have had since a pup. She is a great family pet but she is also walked where there are rabbits every night. She has a great prey drive in that she chases every time she sees a bunny, Fox or even a songbird. The problem is she doesn't want to catch anything just chase. She did catch 4 rabbits last summer and I thought we were away but no, back to the chase only. When she did catch I think it was with her paws first in a pounce rather than a snatch. How do
