About Me
I keep two lurchers and a terrier, I've been ferreting for a long time and making my own nets for just as long, I sometimes make hammocks when I can manage to find the time. I also make all my own pegs for my purse nets from native hardwoods holly and hawthorn etc. I had trouble getting hazel for long net pegs but have got this sorted too recently, thats my latest must get into thing.
I read the harold wyman book (highly recomended) 'the art of long netting' best training book i've read for a long time, so as I do most of my rabbit control alone I am only just getting into the way of setting up the long net properly, I could have done with a helper for a while, but thats life however I should be okay soon. I made the mistake of parting with my two polecat jills last year while considering taking up longnetting and now all I have is a 2 year old hob with very little working experience so I'm on the look out for a couple of jills (prefered black eyed whites) can anyone help?
I have good rabbiting ground less than 30 mins away by car, but there are a few much closer that I can reach on foot, the walking is great around this area, good for exercising the dogs
my ambition now is to get a small bit of land to live on and grow hazel and ash for coppicing and a wee bit for blackcurrants and my veg and herbs but mostly to coppice the wood maybe make some charcoal too.
I work part time at night packing shelves in a local supermarket (shite wages-shite job) so I'll not name them...........
I'm irish by the way, and I've lived here in central scotland for the last 18 years, this is where I have set down my roots so to speak.happy hunting to you all.
