Just got permission on some land that has the worst rabbit infestation I have seen in 20 odd years. The land owner says he takes 20 to 30 coneys per day and has done for the last 2 years, with box traps, and shooting. There is one other lad who shoots when he can, BUT they Do'nt seem to be making a dent in the population. Having walked the ground, I reckon, with the ferrets, I could take 50 rabbits in a modest shift. this is considerably more than I would take normaly, given that I only take what I need for my own purposes i.e. to feed my animals!. I have two questions: 1: what is the

Hi and welcome feel free to PM me with any questions you might have. have had jacks in the past although I now have a Patterdale terrier which I am bringing on for next season. How old are your dogs? size? any pics ? cheers K

she is most likely sore 2 days with one hob and then with another ,2 days for her vulva to go down isnt long enough ,give her a rest she isnt a machine poor thing In my experience, if a jill doe'snt take on 1st or 2nd try, then she's not ready! A hobb will hump a rabbit if theres a seasoned jill in the vacinity. If I were you, I'd clean your jill every day with FRESH water for a week, make sure she's kept cool ( if its hot ), and take the jill to the hob after about a week and make sure theres no other ferrets around. how old is your jill ?

the reason i ask is, 20 odd year ago i keepered an estate. Myself and the head keeper lived entirely off the estate, with the exception of dairy and bakery products as the estate was purely arable. Given the state of the country, I am now reflecting on how much easier it was not living in a supermarket society. It's all fuxked up bud that's my opinion. likewise MRD. Personally I'm sick of being a worker in the Great British mushroom farm. You ought to be glad the supermarkets are full of grub and youve got the brass to buy it. how do you know I've got the brass. maybe thats why I'm

NO and dont believe anyone Ive ever met does either though it seems to be getting more popular to live in a state of denial about good old fashioned sport for the sake of sport and yes that does include the kill. I blame Jasper Hazelnut from River Cottage. Mr Jorrocks would turn in his grave. Do'nt get me wrong threbb, I am VERY much a sportsman! asked the question purely out of curiosity after a recent conversaton I had which got me thinking again about want over need.

Snap shot, very well put when you say excercise. I went lamping in jan, I dragged along a very eager lad who thought it would be a 1 hour few fields 5 rabbit job. When we got out of the LR he was happy to put the rucksack on. Started at 9.30-10.00pm finished at 3.30am 30+ bunnys he was to towing his bollox out. Exercise!! I should coco. The exercise thing goes without saying lads, regardles of the quarry. The deeper the dig, the longer the shot, dragging a beast 4 1/2 miles off the hill, it all makes the meat so much sweeter. do'nt you think ?

Does anyone know what these are?
sam3009 replied to dfee's topic in Working Dog Health & Training Talk
Could be a fungal infection, which are a real difficult thing to get rid of.The animal could be on medication for a good couple of months. I'd get it checked out mate to be on the safe side.
