  1. We had this problem when our young Deerhound ran into a tree. As well as other injuries she punctured both lungs. One was quite minor and healed by its self, the other was so mashed up that she had to have a lobe removed. Took about 2 months to heal. Looking at her now you would never know. We built her fitness up slowly now she has speed and stamina just as she should. First picture Feb 2013 a week after the accident. Second picture Feb 2014 a year after.

  2. Hi guys

Wounded if you could give me any help/advice.

Had a visit from the above this afternoon, this is the story.

Yesterday my wife was coming back from a walk with the dog. Went into the front garden and took his lead off at which point he charged at a cat at the back of the garden. My wife very quickly called him off, which he did, this cat then had a go at the dog. My wife was trying to shoo the cat away from the garden. It took a few minutes but eventually the cat went and she thought that was that.

Today an RSPCA officer arrives with a complaint, apparently the cat now has a bad leg, needed X-rays etc with the vet saying it looks like the cat was kicked! There is no way my wife would have kicked the cat (see would kick the dog though!)

There is a witness who agrees she heard my wife telling the dog off and trying to shoo the cat, however she also says she heard someone saying 'I'm going to kill that cat.' Again not something my wife would say.

She is now in pieces, worried that she will lose the dogs I'd she is prosecuted but more importantly that she will lose her job because she works with children.

Sorry to rumble on, hope someone is able to help.

    Cheers

Well kc is fecked alot of good breeds by looks of it mind when people are barracading themselves from a cat whats the world coming too

the KC dont breed the dogs or set the breed standards, the breed clubs submit the standards that they want to see in their chosen breed.the KC are a registry of pedigree dogs that have been bred they have a Gazette that records what litters have been born to which bitch by which sire and how many pups were in the litter, sex and what colour the pups are. Shows are run under KC guidance all year round not just Crufts and to take part the dogs have to be registered with the KC. So how does that "feck a lot of good breeds"

The NCC still keeps "the Greyhound Studbook" for all greyhounds that are eligible to run NGRC tracks or preban coursing, run along the same lines as the KC registry recording what has been bred and the greyhounds have nt suffered detrimentally by this IMHO

Have to agree with this. In the breed I have the dogs are getting bigger, IMO because in the show ring with some, shall we say odd judging, big dogs are getting placed very high, so people who want CCs etc think "ill breed bigger dogs." Most of these animals are no way 'Fit for purpose' they could not do the job they were breed for. Thankfully there are still some breeders trying to keep the breed as a running dog.

  4. Last post I hope for this. After a few very worrying weeks our girl is now almost back to her normal self She can be moody so we know she's okay :D ). She now just needs to put her weight back on. Vets seem to think it was just a very bad GI infection which took her a while to shift.

Thanks again for all your words and advice.

  7. Theres always bugs going round,

Has the vets taken bloods, as this should show if theres infection present,

it could just be a simple case of gastro or it could be something else.

    Hope they pull through it.

Vet suggested some kind of bug. It's just that it was so quick.

  8. Just a quick post to see if anyone has any ideas. Both dogs (Deerhounds) at vets, on drips, very dehydrated. Our bitch was very ill (vomit and diarrhoea) on Tuesday, straight to vets and onto drip. Our dog started showing some of the symptoms yesterday (but not as bad) so again to vets and on a drip. Vet seems to think some kind of severe gut infection. Was all very sudden, one minute fine, next boom!

I’ve since heard from friends that there may be something going around, so just asking if anyone has any ideas.
