Evening all, I need to ask for your advice on Ratting.
My Patterdale is 10 months old and has caught several rats up until now by himself.
However, I now have more time on my hands and would like to get into Ratting more seriously as the surrounding area around my house has many rats that need eradicating!
I would appreciate some advice in Laymans terms on the best way/methods etc. as I would like to catch as many as possible by assisting my dog.
Cheers
should be ok, as you know all terriers were bred for working a specific job, theres no reason at all why Norfolks shouldn't work well if encouraged to do so.
In Norfolk, I do not have another dog, although I was thicking about getting another as company for him and another working hand of course.
Would you recommend another dog, if so what breed / dog or bitch?
Just joined the site, recommended by a mate. I bought a Patterdale (now 8 months old) as I live on a Farm with Vermin galore and needed a working dog to keep it down a bit!!!
He' s doing ok, very keen and had a few Rats he's dug out him self. Looking forward to getting info and advise from the experts on how to bring the dog on.
The Parents are working dogs and I am going to contact the owners to ask if my dog can go out with them to gain experience as well as myself of course.
Cheers

Wow, looks like you had a great day. I have an 8 month old Paterdale, he has one Rat to his name.
Have you any recommendations on the best way to bolt the Rats?
Any advise would be great
