    Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge in Bradley County Arkansas with my late Father Circa 1996. He was was Scottish My late Mother was Old English thus the height differential. The last picture was a very special hunt. The fog lifted around 10:00 AM and then came the Ducks. It was surreal. When the Mallards parachute underneath the hardwood canopy, it’s electrifying.     Mack’s is a store dedicated to Duck Hunters. It is the Disneyland of Wild Fowling from clothing to gear to shotguns to calls to boats ——- you name it. There is no place like it in America. They have been the number one Winchester Steel Shot dealer for decades but now ammunition is extremely scare in the U. S. so they are selling what they can get. Next door to Macks is RNT calls.     Greetings: I hail from Arkansas. I spent 30 years in corporate America at various and sundry duty stations in the U. S. and Mexico returning home to my native State to focus on Duck Hunting and to escape city life. I am still working selling compressed air systems for industrial and medical applications. We live on a 46,000 acre lake amidst a mountain range thus boating is a way of life. My passion is wild-fowling in the flooded timber of Eastern Arkansas with our Black Lab Female. As steel shot is mandated, the relentless pursuit of the ideal load/choke combination never ceases.

    Dad’s side came from Scotland. Mother’s side came from England——old English—-and the family name did not change during the Norman period. My most notable ancestor on Mom’s side is Reverend Thomas Goodwin. Reading this content is fascinating for one whose roots are firmly grounded in the United Kingdom. Most of us who hail from the Southern U.S. trace our ancestry back to Britain and as such, hunting is an integral part of our heritage.     You’ll be fine with a 12 Gauge 3” Magnum. While I own a 3-1/2” Magnum, I rarely shoot 3-1/2” shells. We hunt Ducks a little differently here in the States and where I am from, we wade into the flooded timber with chest waders and hide next to a tree on the shadow side. Decoys are placed in the water and we speak to the Ducks with a Duck Call to coax them in. It is not unusual to have a Duck land in the Decoys inside of 20 yards.
