Hi, thanks for the suggestion. I am happy with my Walther springer at the moment. It seems to do all I need it to and is accurate enough.

    Thanks

  2. Hi

I just signed up, having read a few of the threads.

I moved into an old farm house a year ago when I retired from proper work. It has a couple of small fields and is just in the Forrest of Bowland.

Over the last year I have been trying to keep down the rabbit population with my Walther springer air gun. This seems to have worked to some extent as there appear to be far fewer around - but I will wait to spring before I get too cocky!

My bigger problem has been moles. They come in from the surrounding fields to my lawn and make a right mess. Last spring I got half a dozen with tunnel traps and this kept them down over the summer. However, since the start of Autumn the number of hills has dramatically increased on my lawn and fields. The traps I had seemed to stop catching - either full of mud or going off without any mole trapped. I bought some better (stronger spring) tunnel traps and they caught another half dozen or so but in the last couple of weeks they have suffered the same problems. I wonder if the wires get corroded when in the soil and become less "slippy" so I am now trying to adapt the traps by bending the wires so the release is more sensitive. I am also trying to set them better in the tunnels and find better tunnels for the traps. As I suspect I have made them trap shy I am now waiting for delivery of some Talpex traps.

Over the summer I have fixed some gaps in a dry stone wall - more to do but not winter work for me!

Oh, and I have also managed some fishing on the Ribble.

    Chris
