I tend to agree with stones here that the league looks done .

A poor arsenal , Chelsea , United and spurs have done them  favours though . City and Leicester are the only other teams in form to chase .

But sanctimonious liverpool fans are the worst . I hope there’s no bitter after taste for them.

While it’s still mathematically possible they could lose it I guess it probably best to calm down a bit in the cold light of day.......IF liverpool lose it now it would be a monumental f**k up and they would rightly get ripped to pieces lol

  2. Not bothered me one bit this year......not even been within 200 yards of a drunk person all week. Probably alot further down the road than I thought so happy days......Work everyday now till jan 5th then got a plane to catch :D

I've had a silly year booze wise! I'm thinking after new year's I might take a break for a bit. I went four years dry and missed it every day. I'm in for an operation again day after boxing Day which may just bring it on sooner.

Good luck with both mate

To be honest with you the rage I felt inside the last time I tried giving up was like nothing I've experienced before.

I felt like a volcano was going to blow it goes to show how addictive nicotine is

And yet I gave up smoking weed about 16yrs ago just  bang 1 day said no more and found giving up piss easy.

And haven't smoked 1 drag since.

I used to drink a fair bit back on the day and gave up very easily.

But this nicotine is some strong beast I will say.

Gonna load up on patches and give up for good. That's the plan.

Smokings more a routine thing imo, change that and you can break the habit

  6. This is a map of where the lights are around the whole artic circle......you can see Northern Europe has the thickest part of it and from abisko to ivalo is right in the middle of it......

If the weathers clear your pretty much guaranteed to see them if you stay for at least 3 nights......one good option might be to fly to Stockholm for the skansen Christmas market.......it’s basically Lapland in a nice city, the kids won’t know any difference and the whole of Stockholm is something else at Christmas time tbh......will cost a few quid but nothing like what you would pay to go Lapland and find it’s not what you expected......can even fly up to kiruna from Stockholm for a few nights and take the artic train over to abisko as that’s a really nice trip through some amazing countryside

Ok...we had a shit time there...

My mum had wanted to take the kids for years, so around 5 years ago she booked the kids and us a day visit, flight from Exeter airport early morning, all day in the site...then flight back...

Flight in the morning was delayed due to too much snow for landing....we finally got on the plane at around midday and was promised they would delay flights back...bullshit...we were raced around this park which was basically a frozen car park, driven to see Santa on a snow mobile..possibly the worst Santa ever, thick manc accent and the worst false beard ever... saw the reindeer...walked over and some girl shouts...dont touch they bite...got pulled on a sled by some huskeys around a 200m track....

Eventually herded through the trusty gift shop (over priced tat the kids believe they want) and onto the coach to the airport...

I can honestly say I've been to better Christmas parks/Santas grotto"s in garden centres.....

My mum was gutted and I was gutted for her, she saved to treat the kids and it was f***ing awful....

I had nothing to do with the booking etc, but I now know there are some beautiful places to go to and from a few mates accounts it is the magical experience we expected.....we were bitten bad though by a terrible British tour company who ripped us off ..

I’ve heard similar from a few mate.....I’d honestly recommend just booking a hotel in a northern Scandinavian town and go there......it will be Christmassy, there will be snow/reindeer and the northern lights but without the tourists

  8. Never been to Lapland but I have been up to abisko in sweden tho which is about four hours away but still in the artic circle and that place is truly stunning, spent 3 nights at abisko guesthouse which is two mins away from a huge frozen lake you can walk on to go out for the lights......first two nights I was there were cloudy/snowing so no chance of seeing the lights but on my last night I was treated to a good show for about 3 hours and it’s a night I’ll always remember and hoping to go back next year but in the autumn when it’s a bit warmer than -17c at night lol

Thing is with Lapland at Christmas is the costs go right up as it’s peak season......if you like scenery tho you will love it I’m sure.......

And a shit photo of the lights took on my phone as my camera wouldn’t switch on in the cold lol

This crazy bint is now just coming up 15, we never thought she would make five.

Recently we've had the conversation a few times, bad days her back legs give out, regularly incontinence, deaf, and sights going.......

Then like an hour ago she's literally tearing round the field in pitch dark chasing a fox, comes back into the house like a charging rhino! Throwing herself from one sofa to the next, and tearing round the house like a loony ?

So if she doesn't break her neck she gets to escape the needle .

Gawd I will miss the crazy bint when her time comes, even though she's an arsehole.

That’s exactly how misty went mate, tough as old boots aren’t they really, it’s horrible to see them get old so quick and even worse there’s nothing you can do about it.....enjoy the rest of her time mate and all the best

  11. Had the old girl put to sleep today :cray:

Although I’ve known for a few weeks it was coming it’s still knocked me about more than I thought it would, had her so long she became part of the furniture! Didn’t quite get to 18 but her back legs were going and she was struggling to get up out her bed so she’s at peace now......was a brilliant mooching dog and one that I’ve had many happy miles out and about with.....RIP misty

Smoking kills far more people than alcohol i think the figure worldwide is something like 4 times as many........they say substances are responsible for 1 in 5 deaths globally but a lot of nations only use alcohol with a meal Italians for example view drunkeness as uncouth and bad mannered and use it in the right way.

You cant say that because some people have problems with alcohol that means alcohol or " the British pub " is a bad thing......more people die from obesity than alcohol but nobody says restaurants are a bad thing....f**k me how far do you want to take it over a million people per year die in road crashes are we to say that cars are bad ?.....like anything people have to be sensible and do things in moderation we are all grown adults who make decisions just because some people make bad decisions doesnt make the thing itself bad theres already far too many do,s and donts in our lives.

I’m not saying it’s a bad thing mate, especially not pubs and a quiet pleasant drink, but that’s not how it is for everyone.

On the obesity, actually yes people do say certain types of restaurants like McDonald’s etc are a bad thing, they get blamed for that all the time, but that’s just the business they are in and no one forces you to go in there the same as a pub or bookies.

You are right about it’s a grown adults decision whether to drink/take drugs/smoke etc I choose not to drink, others do......I have my reasons for not doing it and others have their reasons for doing it and as long as both sides are happy then it’s all good

If you dont mind me asking. How did the drinking end up getting out of hand ? Serious question was it through  boredom? My mate that's mad for it lives himself and has f**k all to do so has a drink

Good question tbh mate.......one that’s hard to answer but I’ll try as you asked lol

I wouldn’t say boredom as I was out most of the time, pool team, clubbing etc but even at 18 people were always telling me to slow down and take me time as I’d be downing pints trying to get as drunk as possible in record time.

I’d say I was about 24 when I started drinking the next day as a “hair of the dog” to get rid of hangovers but then I’d get drunk that day, so would drink again the next day to feel better and then your stuck in its trap.

As I said above it’s when you start drinking on your own that the trouble starts.......joining this site/Facebook etc was probably a reason to tbh as it gave me an excuse to sit at home and drink on my own while coming online and of course the fact I just simply liked the buzz so much....we all look back and think where did the time go but when you’ve spent them years drinking it’s goes even quicker as you can’t remember half of it anyways.

Like your mate I thought there was nothing else to do but ill happily tell you now in 20 days time when I’m on that plane to Thailand for 4 weeks I’ll be glad that I stayed in most weekends, took the dogs out more, brought some decks, brought a drone, held down a decent job, built up my own business and got new customers etc etc the list just goes on and on but it will all only start when you say to yourself thats enough as no one else can do it but yourself (or himself) and that’s what folk just can’t seem to understand no matter how hard you try to explain it. You can do the most expensive rehab in the world but it will mean nothing if you don’t truly want to stop.

I always say drinking was like running down a tunnel with an big elastic band tied to your back......at the end of the tunnel is a normal everyday life of just doing the nice normal things that normal everyday people do......you’d get so far to the end, have a drink and the band would just fire you a million miles past the start line and your worse than you were before so it starts all over again.......and again......and again till enough is enough.

i hope your pal gets sorted tho mate, look up a few AA or NA meetings local to you and suggest you’ll go along with him if he wants to try one......he might not appreciate you sticking your nose in at first but it might just get him on the road to recovery and be the best thing anyone could of done for him in a couple of years time
