ATB Chris The Range is located near Kemble on private land and is built to National Rifle Association and Home Office approved specifications . The range will be run by qualified NRA Range Conducting Officers holding the latest HME* qualifications and will conduct shooters at all times. Arrived Safely Peter, many thanks. I look forward to giving that a go. Chris

Hi Peter I do take your point about bolted sticks spreading too far when sitting but I did make mine specifically for standing, I appreciate that a banded stick is more adaptable so I would like to make up a set like yours so PM sent & thank you for the offer of a teat cup inner lining, I look forward to receiving it & will let you know how it goes. The end caps finally arrived & I think they finish my sticks off nicely. Chris

If you can't use a bipod because you shoot woodland area's as I do then they are very useful. Also useful in open ground if you need to stand for a shot. Chris

Came over all DIY the other day & decided to make myself a pair of stalking/shooting sticks. So off to Homebase & purchased two green plastic coated garden poles & promptly lopped 4 inches off the ends. Drilled through & fitted a nylon washer in-between them then fitted a nut & bolt with a dab of thread lock to stop the nut from un-screwing as I couldn’t find a Nylock nut to suit. Then fitted two Duplon hand grips & drilled through to fit a length of webbing from an old ratchet strap, two large headed pop rivets fixed the webbing to the poles. Then rum

This is my Tikka T3 Hunter Deluxe in .22-250 with a Kahles 3.5-10x50 Scope, T4 Moderator & Harris Bipod, great piece of kit & a fine calibre. Chris

Yep they are the ones Peter, I'll keep an eye on them. Chris

Hi Peter Thanks for the observations & I agree its a problem with the portable type metal seats to keep them secure hence the chain & padlock which was all I could think of at the time to give some semblance of security. I'll give some thought to removing the last section of ladder. As for the chain being loose, you can't see it on the photo but there is a broad strap with a tensioner running round the tree at the very top of the seat so it's quite secure against the trunk & there is another tensioned strap holding the ladder stabilser bar against the tree so no wobbles at

A couple of pics of the new high seat in place, minus the padded seat & armrests etc, i'll keep them at home! I only had to use 2 of the 3 ladder sections Chris

Hi all Our mixed Pheasant & Partridge shoot just north of Oxford requires two new members. We put down 300 Pheasant & 90 Partridge on each of two locations separated by 15 minutes & usually alternate which venue we start at. We shoot Saturdays & have 14 members from all walks of life & are a very friendly bunch. If anyone has any questions please ask away. Chris

Does anyone know of a club/range in Oxfordshire where I can zero & try out differant makes of ammunition for my .22-250? My permission area is very wooded & I would like somewhere to stretch the capabilities of the rifle. I think Otmoor range is the only fullbore one in the area but I don't know how to gain access. ChrisR replied to a topic in Reloading and Gun Maintenance
Always found these people to be pretty good price wise. Chris http://www.opticswarehouse.co.uk/categories.asp?cat=12 -
Just bought this Kahles 3.5-10x50 scope to go on my .22-250. E-bay from the States $574 including postage, paid VAT & duty when delivered so in all it cost me £345. Retails in the UK between £695 & £722. Saved £350-£377 :boogie: Chris

No I've decided not to buy that rifle for two reasons. One I was told it was a Sako & it turned out to be a 7 year old RWS, no problem with RWS though & it was in good nick but secondly it's got a floor plate magazine & I prefer drop out mags. As for the reloads they weren't, they turned out to be newly custom loaded by a local firearms dealer who loads rounds for a few of the keepers round here. I have been offered them & will be talking to the FID about them to see what he says. Looking at getting a new Tikka or RWS Titan at the moment also saw a nice laminate thumbh

Well the FAC finally arrived this morning Only took 4 months, pretty good for Thames Valley. So its time to spend some money Have been looking at .22-250 Tikka's & an RWS Titan so it's decision time. I've got a Kahles 3.5-10x50 scope on its way from the USA. Chris

Yep defiantly portable as it breaks down into three sections. Chris

I assembled the high seat in the garden yesterday & your right it is a high one. The ladder section comes in three pieces so I may only need to use two. It went together very well & is very well made. No parts missing & looks the biz. I've stripped it down now to more managable sections so I can get it in the truck & over to the wood, next week hopefully. I'll take a few pics when its erected & in place. Chris

Having decided to put a high seat up in our shoots wood I’ve been looking around for a good priced metal framed one rather than building a wooden one which will only rot in time. The cheapest I could find in the UK was £99 including delivery from the Sportsman Gun Centre so I checked out Cabela’s web site in the USA & found this one for $79.99 plus $35.00 delivery giving a total of $114.99. With an exchange rate of 1.98 I paid £58.00 & got charge a further £10.00 VAT on entry to the UK, a total of £68.00. I ordered it on the 24th January & it arrived on the 30th. bril
