  2. what sort of price do the gunsmiths charge for the test? is there anything i could do myself to check if its capable of taking down a rabbit within reasonable range, without trying it out for real. (i dont want to just blind the poor bunnyor give it a headache) cheers
  3. How does that work then mate? does it measure the pellet on exit or something? Cheers
  4. can anyone tell me how to determine the power of an air rifle. I am taking charge of a diana but dont know which model it is yet and want to know what its rated at and if its going to be any good for the bunnies cheers
  5. I am off fowling for the 1st time in november. Anyone got any advice on shot size and weight etc. I have looked at some cartridges, they were 12 quid for steel 3's 34g and 23 for the bismuth. whats the pro's and cons or each? I also looked at some Hevi shot which was 15 quid for 10 cartridges. Does anyone know how these fair. I am after the geese but should also get the opportunity for a few ducks. Cheers
  6. Got any pics mate... Is it a sit on top? I have a mate who is after one, just so happens he is down cornwall this week on holiday Cheers
  7. yeah my personal opinion is that the wire haired is a much more handsome dog, do the coats grow much thicker than the pictures show? how would you rate the difficulty in training in comparrison to a lab, i guess if you put the time in with any breed you will get results! although it would be my first attempt so do you think i would be running before i could walk. How would they fair on a driven pheasant shoot from a beating point of view, would the point be an issue, currently i am in a driven shoot where i will be standing, this would primarily give the opportunity only for picking up. do
  8. Hi there, nice dogs. I ve been looking into aquiring my first dog, i want it for rough shooting, standing on driven pheasants and probarbly beating and picking up. I initially had my heart set on a lab but have also seriously considered a cocker or springer. How do you think a wire haired vizla would fair up (to me more so as my first dog ). Are they any more difficult to train and do you think they are most utilised on the moor as opposed to the lower ground. Any info would be appreciated on gaining more understanding to come to a decision. Also any books etc that you would recomend.
  9. yeah me too iam very interested. I am looking for a nice little air rifle. Have you got any pics. Cheers, Andy.
