HW100 fibre cleaning wads

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I am new to the forum and have recently bought a Weihrauch HW100 in .22 after many years of not owning or using an air rifle. I am really pleased with it so far but wanted some advise on how best to look after it?

I have bought some fibre cleaning wads which I was planning to shoot through after every 500 or so pellets, is this necessary or good practise? Should I oil the cleaning wads before firing them through the rifle?

Also if anyone has any other tips or recommendations it would be good to hear from you.

Thanks,

Aleks

Hi aleks and welcome to the site, with regards to the cleaning wads, i wouldnt oil them. just shoot them thro, What i would do is pull thro a piece of cloth with oil after the wads.I always clean mine after about 250 shots. the most important thing is to wipe the whole thing down with an oily cloth. use gun oil but 3 in 1 will do just fine. most manufactures will do free services on new guns. hope this helps.

good advice from steven...............

as always prevention is better than cure!!!!

i would reccomend using pellet lube........heres why:

it lubricates the pellets ( obviously).....reducing the build up of lead in the barrel.

reduces friction........again preserving barrel life.

lubicates your mag...........(longer life) as we all know these can be expensive!!

and as an added bonus.............improves accuracy.

try shooting a goup of 10 shots (dry).....then shoot 10 more with the lube......i was sceptical as well..........but what a difference.

accuracy is key for responsible hunting...........i'm sure you'll agree.

i use NAPIER power pellet..............around £2 for a small bottle.

enough for approx 1500/2000 pellets.

use this along with regular cleaning as steven reccomends...............your gun should give you good service for a long time

hope this helps mate

keep us up dated on your progress

all the best
