Foxgun Tom 75
At 8 weeks she's like a dependant infant and its all about bonding at this stage, its like that up to about 20 weeks?? depending on the individual pup you should always concentrate on basic obedience training before you start any thing else (let her enjoy her puppy stage without any pressure) If this is your first Gundog read as much as you can, buy a couple of good training video's but most important of all!! get to know others with gundogs and pick their brains!! get out and see other owners and their dogs working!! get involved in beating, once all the obedience training is out of the way and at an acceptable standard about 8/10 months then's the time to start basic gundog training "A word of warning don't train your gundog alongside/same time as another dog, you'll only detract from your own dogs training, she needs your undivided attention. You've picked the best time of the year to get a pup, because you've got the whole spring and summer in front of you for training and by next season she'll have an idea what its all about (patience and concentration) Best of luck Tom Quote Link to post
