  1. Any advice on introducing the terrier to ferrets? He has only ever met one before. He is good with cats.
  2. Kx100, Thanks very much for the offer. I'm based in Musselburgh, I see you are in Edinburgh. My access to the PM feature should be granted soon, when that happens I will PM you. Is there anything that I will require besides the dog? Jeff
  3. Oh yeah, thank you for welcoming me to the forum.
  4. I am completely new to this, and would love to give Jack a chance at ratting. Off lead Jack does not really leave our side except for small stints of bush whacking, i.e. he is very human orientated. We live in 3rd floor flat with a Jack Russell, he gets out for 3 x 1 hour walks a day and forest walks for longer periods on the weekends, he is fit and very well behaved, but I am feared that he loses some of his hard wired instincts, especially since when I take him back to Bermuda next year there will be rats, big rats! Ideally a ratting experience for me would be to show up where there are
  5. Is there a ratting season, or is it any time there are rats? After a few more approved posts I'll PM you my details If you think I could come around and try it out? I imagine I show up with a shovel, take the dog off dog's collar and then let him go? Or am I naive?
  6. Dear All, Thanks for having me on the forum. I am a complete newbie to ratting and my JRT is a good little digger on the beach with some prey drive. So maybe he is up for ratting, maybe not. He is from a working the strain 'Cumbreck Jack Russells' in Cumbria. We are based in Musselburgh, East lothian and Jack is now 10 months. He is very well behaved and alert. In fact he is so well behaved I am not sure he would leave my side and go dig a rat. His mother is apparently a great ratter. I would like to introduce Jack to ratting as eventually I hope he rats for me in Bermuda when I return
