Best digging boots to last you are the fell boots, can't break them. For general hunting and digging I e got the hanwag alaska, real solid pair.

Yea you can sing that, the high up law men would be at your door at 6 or 7 in the morning and question you then not get the right answers they want make up there own answers I can't even have a drink in this country over the law and order their worse than any of them scumbags and thieving terriers lurcher cars horses up and down the country and nothing about it and have been for years.
I've heard some Gard's are known to lift terriers off lads to benefit themselves. Corrupted isn't the word, theyre lying bent thugs in uniform, nothing like the police, you'd be the easy man to catch if you retaliated.

They’re a cracking bunch of pups, the two pups posted there are very much like the father, he’s an impressive looking dog and a good temperament, suprised they haven’t been snatched up by now!

That's my bitch out of Nero , not a slow bitch but not a aggressive runner bigger the land better for her , I bred her to rich Rocco and I have 12 months pups running big rabbits in Febuary , plenty of saluki in England mate there was a time some lads didn't see the point in owning or breeding back to a saluki but alot of lads are doing it now breeding back to a saluki to coursing dogs and the results are good . I am over the moon with my pups they will be able to run filed or fen no probs. Sometimes out crossing works
Nice bitch, is she a pure or is she saluki grey bred?

But yous shot 5 foxes on Monday morning. . Something just doesn’t add up about you Dougal .
He’s just a sour man and it comes across in the posts. I’ve no problem with lads out shooting for enjoyment but it’s a bit unreasonable for the lad to be slating dog lads especially when he effects their sport more than they effect his.

You and the likes are bad news for everyone who’s into hunting. Bitter. I’ve never understood why a hunting lad can feel so pissed by others out hunting with their dogs, they usually want everything to themselves. Fact is the population is down like you say. a rifle man can take a lot of foxes, one man with one gun, which is very common place. Now a fox pack can take good numbers up to 100 a season but there’s not many fox packs doing the job and doing it well, so there’s no comparison when it comes to who’s causing the damage to the population. The cover lads have been at that craic for many more years than the night vision lads as you said, and like everyone was saying foxes where more abundant back then, so that tells you once the rifle boys came it had a big impact on numbers.

Fox numbers are down here too, still there but not many. rabbits seem on the rise though.

I’ve found some places the shake works well, others it makes no difference, suppose it depends on if they’re lamped before

That was my thinking mate they should still be in there I wonder if they dna greyhounds bull blood is still evident in there make up.mate they find out everything with human dna
A dog will have 20 generations at least! of dilution in a century, humans might possibly only have 3. Worth a thought.

I have done but I wouldn’t do it anymore either, but there’s some sport you walk past if you don’t. Few rock spots at home and the lads who braved them would be getting many more foxes than the lads checking earths. Respect to the lads who do it!

Exactly, infection starts fairly quick and is normally instant. Some great men able to clean every grain of sand or dirt out of wounds.
Instant nothing great about it, Maybe that’s where your coming unstuck, hence relying on antibiotics. I wouldn’t leave anything in a wound after a dig, that’s why they don’t get infected. One day they may do and I’ll be the first to use them, but I’d never use them as a preventative measure because that is misusing them, eventually rendering them useless.
-
I think some lads assume that antibiotics aid in recovery time of a wound. If there’s no infection present they’re not doing anything but harm. And I’d be the first to say, if I see infection I will get the dogs antibiotics but I’d rather prevent with cleaning than rely on them.

Why would you let any infection take a foothold ?
Surely it's better to save any infection from ever taking place ?
My vet once told me that even under surgical conditions flesh just sometimes wants to die back. I've beat myself up plenty enough times over the infections I've personally seen to know better mate, and that's with veterinary care.
Save an infection from taking place by cleaning, antibiotics are only for use when infection is there and won’t shift. No poodles here, had hard dogs, as hard as any. Antibiotics aren’t a painkiller, and if you clean the wound and rinsed of infection they’re of no use are they.

9 times out of 10 if a dogs is cleaned properly and given the correct aftercare there is no need to be giving any type of antibiotic.Seen too many lads reaching for the needle and probably doing more harm than good after a dogs put a hard shift in.
Here here, im proud to say I’ve never used or needed to use any penicillin or antibiotics on a dog as I’ve always thoroughly cleaned them after work. Seen many a lads dogs need it all because they don’t clean them like they should. I’d say it makes for a more resistant hardy dog in the long run, antibiotics kill the good bacteria also which over time isn’t good.

You definitely don’t know if something is at home or not unless you have a 100% dog, yes you might be right most of the time like myself but the old dog can surprise you and tell you different, unless your out with an experienced dog you can’t accuse the pup of doing anything wrong. If the dog is going to ground with nothing at home it might have been over encouraged, I wouldn’t let mine off unless they give a strong mark on the lead. I’d leave it off until you can ask someone out with you who has an older dog.

I use to have jack russles, and 3000 acres permission to mooch, so my dog never needed any lead training he use to use walk with me... I've taken some time out and my permission passed on to somebody with more time than I had, now I walk my pup in semi urban areas so he's on the lead a lot. Just wondering what everybodys methods of training are, my patterdale is picking up his training really well for a three month old pup. He was house trained and had the basic command's down by 10weeks, outside is a different matter... I use chicken outside for rewards as he values it more, but can't seem to get him to settle around people, other dogs, and he loves to pull when he gets excited. I know he's only young and he will mellow with experience and as he matures, just wondered if any body had any fundamental tips, to lay a good foundation.
I wouldn’t try too hard to stop a terrier pulling on the lead, you can use positive or negative training methods and the outcome will still be a terrier that pulls on a days hunting. I prefer to Walk the pup In a quiet spot where you don’t meet people, people are a nuisance when out on a walk.

Thanks she is kennelled with a lurcher bitch and no problems at all, she doesn’t make a sound and I was told they are very noisy. She seems to have a very good nose and extremely high prey drive, she’s very game but mixes and bays which I like, so far I’m over the moon but we see how it goes. Thanks again
Recipe for disaster kennelling a terrier with a lurcher pal. Many a good quiet terriers killed in those circumstances

Northern Ireland Hunting Act (Ban)
in Earthdogs & Working Terriers

I'd disagree. The average person out there on the street will automatically back a ban, as they assume any form of hunting is cruel, based on ignorance. Unfortunately democracy doesn't protect a minority culture from prejudice and interference from a majority who isn't effected.
