A good quality sheath knife costing around £70 with a strong back to the blade would be a good start,Stainless steel blades af good quality do have carbon in them and this means the blade is rust resistant but holds a bloody good edge,when you sharpen the blade don't make the cutting edge to thin or the blade will crack, the fiskar knives are great knives for butchering your catch but in the field I would say a strong blade from say Boker would be a safe bet,had one for around 20 yaers no problems,as has been said before, there is no real need for a gut hook but if needed, try a fixed blade ty
  2. Hi, senior stalker,clay buster rabbit shooter,pidgeon magpie tree rat crow rook and anything that is in season shooter with anything that goes bang,nice to find a well presented site, it will be good to talk to luke minded people.
  3. use a large pan to boil the cut skull,trap the antlers with two small pieces af wood with one screw between the antlers to prevent the antlers being submerged in the boiling water, also add a couple of tablespoons of washing soda to help cut the fat,before boiling cut as much of the skin,the eyes and the brain away from the bone, after boiling wet pieces of cotton wool with peroxide and mould around the skull for a couple of days,this should give a bright white look to the skull.
