  1. Guys whats the crack with 'micro polecats' was looking to line my EU gill with one this year..Any thoughts? I would like to use and EU hob but cant find any for stud.

  2. Not being funny mate but you were on a hiding to nothing from the get go. No chance you`ll ever get a SGC I wouldn`t think. As for the OP join BASC and question why your ENTITLEMENT to a SGC is being impeded. You don`t apply to get permoission for a SGC it`s yours by right. The cops have to have a good reason to refuse. Offences whilst a child should not hinder your entitlement as an adult. I am a member of BASC they wont help me as they said I knew I would be unsuccessful from the get go, which is fair enough. I shoot with a rifle and work ferrets and dogs anyway so its not the be all for me owning a SG. However, like I said long time without an arrest and my arrest recorded is buffered with nonsense. I have been arrested plenty of times and released without charge just to cause me inconvenience as I was a bit of a wrong un when I was younger I don't deny that. Like I said 15 years I'm married with three kids and I work offshore..got a lot more to lose than a shot gun, just a shame the judge me by looking at a piece of paper, that's the only problem I have. Just booked 50 clays to ease the pain...I'm OK doing that though
  3. I have stayed out of trouble for 15 years and just been refused. Chief of police said due to my arrest history (38 arrests between 1996 - 2002 which only 13 have led to subsequent charges) they have intelligence linking me to drugs and drug dealers and I rang the the police once and alleged an assault just to ensure that police came to the property..even though I was assaulted. Very strange really. But yeah if you have been convicted of anything the police will never in 100 million years think well maybe he has changed, maybe his circumstances are different, they honestly do not care and they most certainly do not want you to have a shotgun, period. Recent development on crime and terror: Seems cars are the weapon of choice and knives of late. Will we need vetting to drive a car soon or eat with a knife, or be refused because we have criminal convictions? Its just because the shotgun is on a pedestal as a weapon of choice and desirable in video games, to drug lords and just a load of rubbish. If the police force had their way had their way nobody would own one, ever.
  4. They do only help if your a member mate. But if you join with a record knowing you will be refused they will also not help you, member or not.

    Corruption At Basc?

You could not be farther from the truth if you tried - please don't try BASC is not complacent; yes we try to raise funds from non-membership revenue to keep the membership fees down, for our members. I joined BASC as I shoot air rifles and work ferrets. I made a shotgun application AFTER I joined which was ultimately refused. I contacted BASC as I was made aware they had a helpline and so on. Long story short they refused to help me and said I knew I was going to fail therefore I should see a solicitor. And in as many words said I was only joining for that reason. He also quoted this to me "an insurer wouldn't let you claim after a crash" Is that not the whole purpose of insurance? To cover yourself should you crash? The message it sends is the advertisement they make on the internet that each member get £100,000 appeal cost and so should say (if you don't have a criminal record) In one of section I forget which one it says; what we do cover and then "any member who is found in possession of a shotgun or a firearm without a license" now to me if you found with either of those your going straight to prison as that is a criminal offence. They are willing to cover that but not help somebody who hasn't been nicked for 15 years, strange. I may seek legal advice on this one. Rant over Obviously not knowing your circumstances it's impossible to give a specific answer, but from what you've said, you are in an untenable situation. You might have put in your application after you joined BASC, but being honest you must have known there was an issue already. You can't really blame them for not wanting to take on a case that's (in their eyes) unwinnable. Purely as an example, someone could have just got out of prison after doing 20 years for armed robbery and murder, so is never going to have a shotgun. Joining BASC then applying for a SGC isn't going to change that. I'm not siding with them by the way, just playing devil;s advocate, My circumstances are I have been arrested 38 times between 1996 - 2002 only 13 of those arrests led to subsequent charges. My worst one probably being violent disorder, I was with a few mates one lad pasted another lad after HE was being attacked with a baseball bat and we all got done for it. Public order act or some kind for defending yourself. But typically we are all thugs and so on and defending yourself is not justifiable in Lancashire. The chief inspector also said they had "intelligence" (hear say in Lehman's terms) that I was associated with drugs and drug dealers in 2012, total shite! A weak justification for refusal is all. I also got a month in a young offenders when I was 17 I had a fight, I won, he informed the authorities . That's nearly 20 years ago. I see what your saying though, I didn't apply knowing I would be refused, although I was not surprised. I thought with that them being well in the past I would at least not be judged as the same person today, I'm not. People change, circumstances change..what can you do?
  6. I haven't been nicked for 15 years, I got a custodial sentence of 1 month for assault (I won the fight) almost 20 years ago. I have just been refused as the narrow minded chief of police doesn't believe that anyone can ever change quite clearly. Your instantly tared with the proverbial brush as soon as your in trouble. As far as police are concerned they look at your sheet and in their opinion you haven't changed, you cant change and you will never change and that's it, simple.

  8. Just a word of warning on this, the BASC generally won't help with any issue that started BEFORE the membership did. Don't know about SACS but I imagine thats the same. That said, SACS is well worth joining if you get this sorted. Just wondering, have the police ever had a call out to a domestic between you and your ex even if no-one was charged? True! But even that's now being manipulated. I joined BASC I made a shot gun application and got denied. They said we cant help you as this happened before I joined. Turns out they was incorrect as I joined first. They then said I knew I would be denied that's why I joined. and his comparison was "nobody would let a motorist claim after he has crashed" Is that not why you get insurance, in case you crash?
  9. Thanks for the advice, I will definitely be joining BASC now, hopefully they can help to support me with this, Cheers I am a member of BASC and have just been refused, they have declined to help me as they said I was aware I would be declined. I made an application after I joined thm and they have just basically sacked me off.
  10. Evening Gents, I have been refused a SGC yesterday on the ground of my arrest record which is apparently 38 times between 1996 and 2002. My recent arrest obviously being 15 years ago. I joined BASC earlier this year which was prior to making a shotgun application, So once I was refused I gave them a call and asked what options I had. Gentleman was polite and said "I think we can help you" I sent him the letter form Lancashire constabulary and so on. The next morning I woke up with an email saying 'I have looked at the circumstances of your case. I regret to inform to inform you that our appeals insurance policy contains the following exclusion under the heading of "what we (the insurers) will not cover": "An incident or matter arising before the insured person joined the policyholder (BASC) and which has or which the insured person (member) knew or ought reasonably to have known may give rise to a dispute or legal proceedings by or against the insured person".You were aware in joining BASC in March 2017 that you had made an application in 2016 (wrong dates) and that the result may be a refusal due to your past criminal history.I appreciate this will be a disappointment to you. If you wish to appeal you should approach a local solicitor to assist you. Has anyone else ever encountered this? If so what can i do? They advertised this and that but when it comes down to it, it appears it can be manipulated, thanks for the help guys.
