Zeroing problems

Recommended Posts

I have just fitted a Chambers Ultra Premium Kit to my HW97k, this was to give me a little more range when shooting rabbits in a local pony paddock at the request of the owner. Before I fitted the kit I would zero the gun prior to going out at 25 yards on a 2 inch dia spinner, three consecutive hits being the standard.

I now find the height elevation to be constant dead centre but the left right wanders 4 t0 6 inches since the tune I have even clamped the rifle in a workmate to eliminate the mug on the end and it still wanders.

This may seem very basic to you senior members but I'm at my witts end as I have tried evrything I know to zero it and last night I shot at three rabbits with no hits?????? can anybody help

My last few posts have gone walkies. Oh well damn internet.

I was going to say are you sure that you aligned it all right. I am sure you did check it but it might be worth taking it off and checking again. But as my post vanished it seems Scuba beat me to it.

It is strange how it is only left or right and not even slightly up or down. So sounds more like miss alignment than the something catching as that would likely send the pellets all over the place.

Hope it works out

Silly question, but one worth asking all the same! ;)

Have you tried to re-centre the cross hairs at all?

If not, then have a go at doing so, and this will help further to find out if there is a problem with the scope internals.

What I mean is, that if you cannot in fact re-centre the cross hairs at all, then it is very very likely that the internals are, or may have been knocked (of course, not necessarily by you, but it could have happened in transit from the manufacturer to the retail outlet, like? ;) ). In this case, you would need to return it to the scope manufacturer (and not the retail outlet where you purchased it) for them to either put it right, or give you another of the same model and make, if you get me?

Try that and let us know how you get on with it - there is a post I did that was put in the FAQ section (within the 'how to zero a scope' thread that will tell you how to re-centre the cross hairs. :)

What is more important I feel is that the information got there.

Try hard I will to learn the ways of the jedi. And try hard I will to get the universities internet to stop playing up.

All the best master Scuba and the jedi with eyes of red.

P.S: I don't know why grim but i was under the impression that he was using open sights (no idea why, i can't read obviously). Otherwise i might have thought of a faulty scope sooner and sent him towards your thread.

*Goes off back to school to learn how to read a scentence properly.*

Freddy,

No probs mate;)

It may of course be me who may not have read things correctly - i just was thinking as i read it that it was a scope that may be at fault - there was a mention somewhere (at least i believe) about 'internals' and so just presumed it was a scope? :hmm:

Like i say, I could be wrong too. :whistling::icon_redface:

Thanks too Freddy, for your humour in your earlier reply - it's not often these days that this is happening lately in here? ;)

It is no bad thing at all when we as adults can admit we are (or could be) wrong - as we have both just done eh? It adds to the thread constuctively, i reckon

All the best pal,

Well if I am wrong then I am wrong no use claiming anything different. If I didn't admit to it how is this guy ever going to sort his problem out. At least now he has a chance.

I have now learnt to read, unfortunately my laptop doesn't seem to know how to type. So appologies if there is a letter missing every now and again in my posts.
