pack of dogs 34
Mine is keen but you have to be a bit careful with him, we only use him on open land we know well. the retrieve can be a bit patchy as well....but seein him run up the lamp the speed is awesome, he is like a f****g rocket. i don't think the feet thing is any worse than most fast lurchers. their main trouble is that their coat is so thin and so is there skin, barb wire shreds them instantly, even thorn and brambles can cut them up quite badly. You can work a greyhound like a lurcher, they love it (and are good at it), but you have to be that much more careful, and you do need open land coz a grey is significantly faster than most crosses, they get knackered quickly as well ! as for foxes, a grey will have a go at just about anything which is moving, and a fox would be no problem for them if anything they are a bit too game sometimes . Good honest post mate, obviousoly someone who knows what there talking about Quote Link to post
sniper 30
Me and A close mate have had around 4-5 Grey's between us.. The season just gone we had 2 bitches in our kennels..To be honest we didnt give them a fair enough crack of the whip because my mate was getting disheartened by the game..fuk knows why anyway them 2 we didnt get to test on game as we ended up giving them back to the greyhound breeder/racer...but we have had 3 greys before them when we were out all the time be it lamping mooching or whatever...These 3 greys all killed foxes single handed and were very decent lampers...unfortunatly they either died of old age or were give to a track man to breed from... None of them 5 grey's came in season for us as we were going to breed 3/4's out of my mates old halfx but thats been pinched now so the lads given up the game.... If i had the time to get a grey i would get a pup and rear it as a lurcher with other lurchers who are working... Good luck anyway Cheers Quote Link to post
