bigbulls 26
Because of the wind direction over the weekend i decided a little exploritory mission up one of the rivers creeks was a good call, we would have been fishing for a few bass off the south coast but didnt fancy the chop or relentless wind pushing us around. Anyway, i had only gone a short way up the creek when i started to see some really big mullet mooching about. I certainly wasnt tackled up to fish for them and have never actually targeted mullet before, its amazing how close you can get to them in a yak before they spook but try as i might i could not get a decent pic of one. So im going back to have a go for one, but how? what would be your suggestions as far as tackle and indeed tactics go please?? Bear in mind that im drifting with the movement of the water, this is a tidal creek roughly a mile and a half up from the sea. Quote Link to post
clabby 14
for mullet you want lite course fishing tackle. i.e 5lbmain line 2.5lb hook lenth, crystal waggler float or as you are drifting a stick float or even a bubble float size 14,16,18,20 hooks single maggots on the hook chuck 3 or 4 maggots every 30-40 seconds. and use a 11-13ft match course rod grate fun with mullet. thats how we catch them off the harbour at weymouth Quote Link to post
RaiderBoy 19
;ight spinning rod and 6 pound line if your fishing by them trees feed them liquidised bread and pinch bread on the hook if that dosent work try little bits of mackeral on a size 6 hook under a waggler float Quote Link to post

aaronpigeonplucker 32
size 10 bread, 6IB main line. through in mashed up bit of bread. fish it under a waggler float or if you can see your bread and the fish then freeline it!
