First Goose!!

Went for a walk on Saturday with the dogs on my usual bit of ground, was almost back to the kennels when my spaniel shot off after a munty, had one lurcher off the lead Lottie. They lost the munty in the wood but when they came out the 3 farm geese were in the field at the bottom of the wood, my spaniel went to see them and they started to run so Lottie obviously decided they were Game!!! After about 30seconds of lots of flapping and a lot of noise she seemed to seperate one from the other 2 and was trying to grab it but you could see she was also confused!!!

 

I was still holding my other 3 lurchers, i ran to tie them to a tree and try to stop the batttle that was comencing, the goose stood its ground and went for lottie, she was bouncing around it and even started to bark at it with confusion and frustration, she was kind off going for it trying to grab it them jumping back, I was shouting and now running across the field to grab her, she completely ignored and was 100% focussed on the goose!

 

when i got to within 50 yards I thought I would be able to stop the stand up battle but lottie unfortunately managed to grab the goose by the neck just as I got there, it is the first and hopefully the last time this happens, I never thought that she would go for a goose and I do have respect for geese cos they sure do stand there ground and fight back!

 

I couldn't have a go at the dog cos she doesn't know any different but I did feel a bad for what has happened, I then called the farmer to tell him about the accident and he was Ok about it thank god, I now just need to buy a couple of geese the big white ones, so if anyone has any contacts in the south or knows where I can buy a couple from please let me know!
