Toka 10
Hi, forgive me but I am not sure of the exact cost of attaining the DSC1 qualification, I think it is around the £300 for a 3 day course, without lodgings if they are needed??? [please correct me if i am wrong] My question is this...is there a cheaper way of getting this qualification???... 1. can the assessment be paid for without paying for the training? 2. can the training be done throguh the internet/cd disc/open university/library reading etc instead of on the training course days, so you are paying for the reference material but not the 'tutoring' 3. is there any one company that provides the training that is the cheapest? 4. can you pay for tutoring for an individual part of the assessment only i.e the food hygeine part only. 5. can you separate each part of the qualification and just complete each part as you can afford it. I know that a lot of this may have been discussed in the past but I think I will have to face the music if I tell the missus that I have to do a £300 course but we can't afford a holiday this year 'cos of the financial burdens in the current climate. [and it isnt looking pretty for a few years after either] For the next few years I would like to try to find a stalker who could use a willing helper, although here in the North West there don't seem to be many opportunities within an hour of here [might be proved wrong on that]. I would like to find that idyllic piece of land that has problems with deer, and I can come along and help out by managing the deer population for the owner, which would also give me the opportunity to sell the carcases and so my stalking can somewhat pay for itself ..blah blah blah.... Probably the same thoguhts that a number of would be stalkers have gone through, I just hope I can eventually realise them. My long term goal is to be able to retire from work around 55yrs old and go into some form of professional (part or full time) stalking/pest control, until then it will be recreational stalking, and I am trying to give myself the next 5 years to get my DSC1. When my renewal is then up I will apply for a deer/fox rifle having hopefully got the qualification in the mean time. As time goes by the price of the DSC will only continue to rise as well, and legislation may mean that anyone wanting to stalk will have to have DSC1 and 2 under their belt. hope this post has made sense to someone out there, and perhaps some of the above points could be discussed.
