decent afternoon out

Had a fair decent afternoon. Went out for a mooch with the jrt and terrier cross and decided to take the wifes collie for a run. Got a few fields up and they all dissapeared into a blackthorn copse, few seconds later and a rabbit flushed at the other end, then I caught the collie running in front of me, hot on the heels of another, now this dog isn't fully fit but it made the ground up and caught the rabbit before it hit the woods, but only pawed at it so it got away for another day. More than happy as it's first time I took it for a run in ages.

 

Carried on round the woods and found the river I normally step through running high with flood water so had to make a different crossing, over a fallen branch, bit hairy but made it over.

 

Headed over to next woods and had a look over some unused buries but not much there. Out the woods and into sheep grazing ground and heard a sound through the hedge. Closer look and I saw an old fella hunched over. Interesting, he's either the owner or someone ferreting. So I tethered dogs to the spade and went too see. Turns ot was the farmer helping a ewe to lamb. What better time to offer services as a terrierman. Had a chat and told me he's happy for me to go over the land, and to go up to the house this week as he has more ground. Great news as I have been after more ground for a while now.

 

Headed home happy, another hairy crossing at the river and had a quick go round the edge of a kale field and the terrier cross flushed another rabbit out of the cover. None of the dogs caught, but happy that they are hunting and flushing.

 

Ended the day at the top of the field and all dogs going ape over a bury I thought I emptied a few weeks back, digging at edge of the stone wall, then the jrt dissapeared down the bury, thats her of the rabbits now as I definately don't want to dig to rabbits haha but the tunnels to small even for the 10" russell so she came out and we went.

 

Good afternoon, and a bit of a laugh at robson green at 9, so am a happy camper tonight.
