farlap 19
I was talking to someone recently who had been to the US and bought some plaited jesses that are like a nylon spun cord type material.......he says he had them 3 seasons now and still look like new and never rot or snap etc. Has anyone tried them? Any pros or cons? just curious if this is the way it will go. personally I love making furniture out of leather on a cold winters evening but......safety has to be No1 priority for any bird so what do younall think? I had a pair of these on a Peregrine blocked in the weathering a couple of years back! they wasn't the best quality I must admit and in time she did start to pull and pluck them. having said that a guy off the forum showed me a pair a couple pf weeks back and they looked very nice quality! I think he has used these on his Goshawk for a good while now without a problem but I would still like to see the acid test under the conditions when a bird expecially a Falcon when first jessed has a good pull and tear at them.... Its a great idea and I can't see them rotting like Leather! but then again Good leather should be fine if checked/greased and changed regular by Falconers Here's the one that survived! the other is now deceased Jasper Quote Link to post

Guilty as charged! I do have a set on my female Gos and also a braided loop leash now. Fenland George sells them (from another forum)but I got my latest from a girl called zoe in Somerset, her jesses and leashes are exellent. The one thing I would say about the jesses is when new (especially), the button end stands proud of the eylet and looks a bit wierd, but the hawk doesn't mind-so neither do I Jim Quote Link to post
