dogs-n-natives 1,182
Well I mainly use cage traps, dug into a sandy bank, often an overhanging bank, or tree works well, remember to tie it to something well so it dosent get washed away in a flood. I usually cover the floor of the trap with sand, so the mink dosent feel the cage, but its not essential. Edited to add: I aslo cover the trap with debris, wood, whatever, makes it look more attractive to the mink, and helps hide the trap from prying eyes. I bait with fresh rabbit. or fish heads free from the monger. You could also use the fenn mk6 or bodygrip 116 in a suitable tunnel, again baited will bring faster results. Hope this helps, Good luck mate Edited February 15, 2009 by dogs-n-natives Quote Link to post

dogs-n-natives 1,182
I ordered mine in bulk, so cut down on price a bit..... but for a single trap or two, check out the link at the top of this page, where you go onto the snare and trap designs page, Trap Supplies... dogs-n-natives 1,182
The body grips are the business for a good clean kill, but the tunnel for the mk6 fenn is very easy to make out of three small planks, with no need for making slit down the side for the bodygrip spring. You could obviously use the bodygrip, and fenn without making a tunnel/cubby, and house the trap in a natural site like a bankside hole, or hollow log, or in a pile of driftwood, make sure its well anchored again. And make sure that the trap site isnt going to be accesible to kids or dogs etc.. Best to update yourself on current laws/regulations and guidelines before setting any traps, Quote Link to post
