mox1968 0
I first worked terriers about 15 years ago and I got into it by accident ,I bought a wee jack russel as a pet then found out my uncle was like an institution in the glasgow area for terrier work although it has to be said he only used lakies and patterdales)anyway I started going out with him at first ferreting for rabbits and later on for the old red haired one I was hooked and after a short while I ended up with a russel /lakie cross to go with my first dog and it all went well working the dogs when I could and enjoying every minute of it.It has to be said though even then,it wasnt the most popular of hobbies to be involved in.Many trips out ended up in some lets just say ,meetings with not so like minded people!!Anyway at that time I suppose I was convinced that the sport would go the way of the dinosaur beaten into submission and outlawed and heard of no more. But im pleased to see that after al those years of being no longer involved in it there is still a scene or group of people keeping up the old traditions and working their dogs.Working away from home for years stoppped my involvement and divorce and various other ....adventures !!stopped me from enjoying my sport but recently having (weirdly enough my new wife buying a jack russell pup with out her having a clue of my previous interests)awakened my interest in working terriers.anyway like im trying to say im very pleased there is still an interest although its looking more of a challenge to get to work your dogs and still be within the limits of the law ..I have to say im pleased that it never went the way i always supposed it would and it only goes to reinforce the fact that for all the negative "anti" publicity and so called public opinion there is still a group of people who dont have a problem with it.anyway im not very good at geting to what im trying to say (sorry!!)but keep up the good work dont let these people get you down and im not going to walk away from supporting field sports again because the more people who stand up and be counted the less chance there is of our sport dissappearing for good.
