harry waudby. 10
got that one for birthday, aswell as a satalight one that had a mount to clip onto the gun harry which one did you get, the hawke or the deben, and is the one you have effective for rabbits? i decided against them both and went for a mag-lite 4 D cell and im gonna fashion an attachment in the work shop, this is what i went for: it is around £25 and the batteries last about 9-10 hours, Beam range is 60ft here is the website, http://www.spcmarketing.co.uk/acatalog/Maglite_4D_cell.html i think it has the advantage of having plenty of body (40mm) to mount to that is why i chose it. i got the deben one sorry. And its good, what i do is lamp with big one then flick to the small tracer once spotted, & i'm sure ive seen filters you can clip onto the end from uttings i think its called :S atb harry. Timelord 0
hi there i use the tracer and i believe it to be a good light best to get some rechargable batts for it tho I've field tested a Stinger and think they are total POO waste of money IMO. Just save a little extra and get a proper gun lamp for bunny hunting. The stinger in the field test only had the range of 25 meters NOT 70 meters as boasted by the adverts. I'm sure this will be ok for rats in close distance work, but it's just not effective enough for rabbits in the field at the ranges needed to shoot them... My shooting pal owns a gun shop in Exeter so we have a lot of access to all products on the market, so testing them with out buying them is what we like to do This way myself and my mate can form an honest opinion to people when they ask questions about products.... FlashFerret 1
Well I had a stinger and I've got a LedRay. Absolutely superb see http://www.deben.com/lights_lamping/ledray.php Quote Link to post
Timelord 0
Well I had a stinger and I've got a LedRay. Absolutely superb see http://www.deben.com/lights_lamping/ledray.php The Led light you likn here also has it's limitations too, don't worry I've field tested that one too . The limitation is the LED bulbs only being able to give out 230 Lumens of light but lens technology to give (what's called in the trade throw) of the beam still will not be good enough for lamping rabbits properly. When I tested this light it did perform a little better than the Stinger. I've been messing about with high powered HID lamps but they need mega amounts of battery power to lamp all night. Still if you guys are happy with the cheaper lamps on the market that's fine But my advice is buy a proper lamp capable of doing the job in hand... Happy hunting kids Quote Link to post
