Breakaway brokeaway

Recommended Posts

Hi, I've been out to check my snares this morning only to find one of the breakaway's has obviously had something in it that has bent the 'S' link clean open (Good too see they work as they should) but no signs of fur, blood or anything else for that matter.

The site of the snare is at the back of my house ( i live in a rural area) in an old Lady's field that no one else goes in so human tampering is out of the question, but i would expect to find traces of fur in the strands of the snare had an animal been caught or am i wrong, although i know there are deer around here i have never seen one or signs of them in this field so think this is unlikely. Has mr fox had an easy night?

Any suggestions gratefully accepted.

N.B I'm pretty sure the snare was set correctly, Ive read the articles on how to do the job right. a bit frustrating though as it was my first activated snare

Sounds like it might have been a deer then. You were just unlucky. Snaremans design works without fault though.

Good luck with the rest of the snaring and it might be worth trying hoops instead of tealers, most larger animals including escaped sheep, deer, etc will walk over a hoop.

All the best
