island rabbits

Recommended Posts

well a friend has invited me to shoot some rabbits on an island about 100 yards from the shore of his boat club. now this place is frigin crawling with the buggers :) and they are really doing some damage to the land. someone even released a fox over there to try and keep the population down but it dosent seem to be doing much  anyways i was going to use my dads air rifle because his shotty would be too loud (boat club people would complain). the island is about 50 achers how would you go about controling them?

it would most likely have to be done during the day, but because of the lack of predators they are pretty active during the day.

first thing "who owns the island and what is their point on the rabbits. I do an island that has more rabbits than you can count, but the island owners need the rabbits as they help the puffins when they arrive for breeding. if all is above board id use a long nets and chase the rabbits with a dog.

the air rifle would be ok if it has the power you might find them pretty tame to start with until they realise what you are doing if you can get some kind of hide or high seat keep moving it round to the worst parts also try lamping with the shotgun and the air rifle have fun you lucky git
