claybusers al 9
out last night on our usual tuesday night outing. just gets out and down comes the sleet and snow. where we lamp is quite high up, as were out already we decide its worth a look so first field nothing, been seeing a scrawny cub in here but not getting a safe shot not out tonight, so on we go next field nothing then half way up the hill on the third field i just catch a glimpse of eyes by the time my mate gets the 222 out its off, this the one ive told you about thats lamp shy so no surprise there the weather is getting worse another couple of blank fields the sleet eases up a bit so we go and look round the farm now these fields are wet cant drive on any of them, all the fields are small nothing bigger than a couple of acres, first flash of the lamp theres a fox sitting in the next field with the wind blowing hard at us, guns out the fox is just ignoring us but its not an easy shot through a sheep netting fence about 200yds away. so my mate climbs on the roof of the suzuki to get a better angle and its just sitting there eating i tried squeeking nothing cant move it and cant take a safe shot as there are horses in the field behind it, so out with battery pack and small lamp across we go across a very wet field it sound like were making a rackett with all the squelching we get to the fence its still there 70yds out lamp on bang its hit but unfortanatly through the gut so of it runs now we are not built for running across muddy fields both of us being over 17 stone so off we go 200yd dash and there it is lying against the fence with no 22 to finish it but as we get to it its off agin but dropps soon so my mate takes another shot and completly misses because hes breathing so hard after our sprint then the fird gets it square in the chest so the night was not lost but an erly one Quote Link to post

Guest JohnGalway
Oh yeah! I remember your previous post now Al Giving the fox a break for a while was going to be my next suggestion. Handy to get that extra second while their brain is remembering the lamp. Quote Link to post
