Back Stabbath 1
The main thing is that the keeper is not indiscriminite as trappa said, and that he's not killing more birds than necessary, or rare birds. Come on like, the birds are just doing what comes naturally to them to stay alive. There needs to be respect for nature and a give and take relationship, not just a take relationship and f*ck everything that interferes. Bloody cats though, the world would be a better place without them! Not only do they start fights and keep me up at night, but they kill everything! (Not to mention my mams cat being deaf and screaming at the top of his voice evry 5 minutes because he cant hear himself to regulate the volume!) If this fella gets more than a rapist though, theres something seriously wrong.

John Keswick 119
The gamekeeper in question is indeed “in the wrong†in this situation! He would have been far better to deploy tactics by witch there was no evidence left leaving him open to prosecution, also instead of taking pot luck and leaving things to chance (hoping to catch the problem bird) he COULD have been “target†specific. The trouble is nowadays, as with many things involving wildlife, we are living with rules and laws that in the 50’s-70’s needed to be introduced to protect endangered species of birds of prey and other wildlife that were at low numbers due to one reason or another. Despite what many people would have you believe, the biggest problem with the decline of the raptor problem, wasn’t Gamekeepers, but in fact the introduction of highly toxic pesticides, that found their way into the food chain and as usual effect the higher species in the food chain (good example: Otter decline – the hunts are very still often blamed for the decline in the otter population, when in fact they themselves instigated a halt to otter hunting when the numbers started to fall) However I have digressed… Back to the deed in question! Was the gamekeeper wrong to try and remove birds of prey from his estate? If he was going for an all out attack on everything, then YES! If he was trying to take out one or two problem birds, then in my opinion he wasn’t wrong, just did it in the wrong way! The biggest problem here is, no matter what the population of specific birds of prey are, the law states that none shall be touched. The numbers of Sparrow Hawks, Buzzards and Brown Owls (and anyone that has had anything to do with game conservation will know these are the main problem birds. Goshawks are a real problem I know, but their numbers are still relatively low and probably still need some degree of protection. Hen harriers in specific locations can also be a problem but I think things can be done other than destruction due to low population numbers), has risen beyond all comprehension since these laws were introduced and can be compared to the situation with badgers. I also do not think that the gamekeeper should be sent to jail for setting an illegal trap, no, in fact if he does get a jail sentence, then it will just go to bolster my opinion of the government, the country (as it is at the moment) and the law! And that opinion is that they are all indeed shit!
