Deben dimmer / Opticswarehouse dimmer

Anyone buying an inline dimmer unit please read this.

 

The Opticswarehouse one they offer for £29.99 is rated up to 50W lights only.

 

AFAIK, the Deben one for £39.99 will work fine on 100W lights.

 

I ordered one for a Lightforce Lance I'm rewiring, luckily it was for a Lance but I'll be stuck with the 50W bulb in it now, shotgun/rimfire lamp now

thanks john, i have stuck a 50w bulb in my striker and have been using it for the past few weeks and the only real difference i have noticed is the shape of the spot beam , it looks more of an oval shape now due to the bulb being the horizontal fitament rather than the vertical one.how are you getting on rewiring it? i bought all the stuff i needed from towzatronics on ebay.

I've not started rewiring it yet John, need to get a bit of cable yet But other than that I have my connections, switch and soldering gear ready. I'll take a few photos of my dodgy DIY wiring when I get about to doing the job

what amp cable are you going to use? i used the 10 amp but i think the 15 would of been better

I haven't the foggiest. I go into a car shop, tell the guy I want to power a whatever W bulb from a 18 or 20 amp battery and let him sort out the rest , hasn't failed me yet

John you want to do as least soldering as possible if any at all, as solder joints wont last as long as a through crimp

Some 1.5mm2 2 core flex will be ample for the current a 100w lamp will pull

I wanted one for my lightforce lamp

I didnt want to pay £40 Or have a switch stuck to my stock

 

I bought a pigeon magnet speed controler for £19 and made this:

 

 

 

 

 

Took 30 minutes with a craft knife, snippers, screwdriver, glue gun and a spanner to bolt it to the lamp

using the original bolt through the hinge arm of the lamp.

 

Full power to off in the twist of the wrist

did you change yor battery too?
