Grim Reaper 1
Heres a couple of pics of one i made myself out of American Black Walnut. It has a pistol grip , and a raised cheek piece and stippling on the fore-end and pistol grip. The length of pull is longer than the standard beech stock (which was a little short for my liking), and a longer fore-end to help guard the filling valve end.I am particularly proud of it because it was the first time i had ever done something like this. I am no woodworker by any long chalk - I just had a go to see where i would end up - proof that anyone can do it if they turn their hand to it! Right butt. Pistol grip. Fore-end. Right side. Left side. Right side - 2nd shot. Looking forwards. I hope you find these interesting guys? Regards, Grim. Edited November 17, 2008 by Grim Reaper Quote Link to post

Grim Reaper 1
hey man that looks really good and very nicely made, also How did you get the pistol grip effect and what oil is it finished with.thanks mitch Hi Mitch, I got the finished look for the stippling by a bit of mucking about with a bit of steel rod, a bench grinder, and an off cut of walnut left over from the stock making. What i did was to grind the rod and had a couple of 'test puches' on the off cut, and then ground the rod tip again, had a test, and kept testing and grinding until i came up with the desired tip shape i wanted. Whe i got to that point, what i did then was to just use a tacking hammer and kept tapping the rod while moving the rod around the work piece in a random fashion, until i had the pistol grip suitable covered in stippling. Then, all i did then was to neaten up the edges with a fine, and very sharp chisel and the aforementioned tacking hammer. I hope this tells you what you want to know mate? Any questions - just drop me a PM chap. All the best, Grim. Edited November 19, 2008 by Grim Reaper Quote Link to post
