Guest whitser
the roundtower harriers got their first fox of the season on sunday. farmer had asked me to call up cos he had ducks taken recently. i knew where we'd find our fox. she was in a bog that always holds a fox in it. sure enough as soon as we hit the bog the hounds were excited and didnt take long for velvet to sound. got a great view of her chasing the fox, only a couple of feet behind the vixen in full cry. all the hounds joined in as well as my terrier. the vixen gave them the run around through very thick cover for a while before breaking cover. hounds ran the fox to ground and marked the hole about 2 fields away. we entered my mates bitch biddy and got a mark of about 3 feet. handy dig and we broke through to the fox and terrier. it was very tight, amazes me how tight a fox can go. any way the fox was dispatched quickly and the hounds given a well deserved rag. farmer was chuffed. hounds and terriers working well is great to see. With velvets roar we were on, fox was on the run. but the pack was on his trail, this little fox was done. with fox in ground its time for biddy, a terrier game and keen. many a fox she has slayed, a true working queen. a handt dig and all was done, the dogs filled us with glee. to follow hounds and dig to ock is to feel truly free. tally ho! Guest whitser
scent will be getting better now that the weathers turning cold. my 3 are hunting welll thank, starting to mark holes too. so hopefully they'll keep the terriers busy all season. macker biddy will be out for a few weeks parrots says. she had some more earth work later that day and she deserves a good lay off. hopefully my lad will get some digging for himself, he still needs more digs befroe i can start to call him 100% on fox.
