for a variation do you have to write a letter in to the the FEO or fill in all those forms with referees again??

You need to fill in the main form again. But you don't need references.

 

You need to specify the Calibre you want to acquire or the action etc etc on the form as normal, and provide land permission for it or Target club approval.
