jmilam08 193
alright everyone sitting at home bored waiting for my first day of the season ferreting tommorow so was just intrested as to what the rest of you like and expect from your ferreting dogs.So what do you like in your ferreting dogs, do you prefer them to be permantly moving checking different holes or waiting patiently whare it expects the bolt, do you like them to hold a netted rabbit or just cover it until you come and neck it.is there anything else in your dog that makes it the perfect ferreting dog for you, also what cross or type of dog you choose for the job.cheers jake. Guest on the hill
thats a big question mate lol, ill start by saying all i hope for from a dog is for him to show me where the rabbits are at, that he listens to simple commands and understands that my ferrets and family are part of the pack, anything over that for me is a plus Edited September 13, 2008 by on the hill Quote Link to post

jmilam08 193
of course good marking, free to roam around set, dont mind them mouthing netted rabbits and my bullx was good at ferreting but most beddy/whippet or collie greys are most popular thats what i was intrested about was the mouthing of the rabbits,i know its each to there own but i was intrested to see how many people want there dog to go and pick it up or just wait for it to be dealt with.my dog picks them up and iv lost a few rabbits because of this where other rabbits have bolted and she just watches them while still holding the other, shes still young so might grow out of it.
