breeding out the goodness

i was out with the terriers this morning [prepareing for the weekend ] ive got a mother and daughter team and the daughter does'nt have the drive or the nose of the mother much more obediant lo my discussion is when we breed even lo its worker to worker we sometimes loose the qeulities of a pure breed so i think every few generations put it back to a pure breed whats your thouhts on this i suppose its the same for lurchers to be put bacj to a greyhound

 

not that im a dog breeder i keep to my line for personal use and sell the excess to working homes for next to nothing

 

so if you get a terrier x it can be as good or better as a pure dog but to get the better qaulities say nose or hardness you would put to the dog that you seem fit to have them qaulities so do you think every few generation to stop them becomeing complete mongrols would you put it to a pure breed
