smudge1901 1
I am running a Laguna bred whippet (Sam) 21" and have to say that his speed and turning ability on day time rabbits is better than anything I have had before with my lurchers...However, they were bred, pre ban, and hares were their main quarry, and I know from an accidental encounter with a long ears, that my whippet just does not quite have the staying power needed for a full course... As rabbits are the only legal quarry with any real speed Ive decided to get another bitch to help Sam out, but not sure of what type or size to get. At the moment Im looking at another whippet or small lurcher, but not sure what size to look for. Is Sam so quick because he's a pure whippet, or is it also his size that lets him get away so quickly. I have had Saluki x Grey crosses many years ago, and they where huge, but needed half a feild to get up to top speed. I'm thinking a 21" max bitch with plenty of whippet, with either a touch of bull, or even a touch of Grey..... Any ideas gents, looking for day time rabbiter, so speed and turning is the name of the day... Thanks for any advice PS..PLEASE SEE MY WANTED ADD.... Quote Link to post
