Guest rudolf
I have been home loading for a bit now but its been only for two guns . I have had my sako 270 finnlight 75/IV for a year and i would like to make up a different load for it, it has a short (20 7/8") 530mm barrel length, the load i am using is 51.0 Grs of H414 with mag primer and 130 Grain bullet head . I shoot roe and red deer . Has any one got the same rifle and does home loading . I don,t do a lot of raeding on home loading so my knolledge is very small. The reason i am asking is i get some barrel flash and i am at the min load for this powder. Any advice. Quote Link to post
Guest baldie
Difficult one to answer really, but at that barrel length, i doubt its burning all that powder. I,ll check, but i would say go to a faster powder, and smaller charge, i,ll get back to you. Quote Link to post
Guest baldie
I,ve got the min load for that powder /bullet as 50 grains.I would go to a slightly faster powder like varget, which starts at 43 grains, and max is 46 grains with a 130 grain bullet, this is also a lower pressure powder than 414.Another excellent powder is h4895, start grains of 42, and max of 45, with a 130 grain bullet. This data, is from the lee book.
