countrymaid 2 Posted August 9, 2008 Report Share Posted August 9, 2008 I got some new chickens today they came from the battery hen charity in Devon, they came from some battery hen farm and they are the clear outs they get rid of, usualy for slaughter its just such a waste. These hens are in a bad way but i know they just need some time and good food in them. When i collected them tonight i put them in the stable and some where unable to stand, im told this is from being crammed in cages all of there lives. Ive had clear out hens before but my last lot came from a free range farm and where in very good condition and could actualy walk. The charity today saved the lives of 500 chickens, mine will have a lovely life when they have moulted and get better. I just wish people would stop buying cheap eggs from supermarkets and this awful trade of chickens crammed into cages would stop. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
