hi :)

looking for advice took my dog (jrt) for a walk today over local park which is full of rabbits. my question is my dog nose was to the ground and he was ever where in and out of the bushes i took a high powered lamp with me (chancing it if im honest!!!) and spotted a number of rabbits in the edges but dog didnt chase em. what is the best way to teach him to follow the beam of the lamp??? or [bANNED TEXT] techniques are best to teach him. the dog hasn't a bother about goin into the bushes should i just keep letting him do that and hope he comes across a rabbit???

im a complete novice and would appericate any advice ..............

i also take him around a local fishing venue looking for rats he as manage to chase one into the water but the b**tard rat dived and came up and piss off up the bank ( not to get any money out :D:D )

like i say im a novice trying to work my dog i know my dog wont let me down once he has an even chance. he is keen but like me a novice he is only 7 months old. am i pushing too much?? will this put him off.

Far from experianced myself but id say you dont have a great chance of him cacthing a rabbit on the lamp he will miss a lot more than he will catch, you say he goes to cover well, so hed be more likely to catch one there where its sitting in cover already, as you say he is young and still learning, but let him rag a fresh carcass that should let him know what your after, or skin a rabbit and put it over a retreiving dummy for practising with.
