BLACKBOB 9
Im having a bit of trouble on some permission with lamp shy foxes. Iv been managing to call them in to shooting range (rifle) but not close enough for the dogs. Ive tried most things, different calls and making sure im down wind. Ive tried filters and dimmers but to no avail. So i went there last weekend and spotted a fox 2 fields away so i switched off the lamp, squatted down and called. I purposeley left the lamp off and didnt check for a miniute or so when i put the lamp on he was only about 60 yrds away but took off like a missile., So the plan is to get some night vision monoculars, But which ones?. I looked on ebay but theres loads of them and most probably lots of rubbish as well. I would appreciate any advice on these as ive no experience with them and aint got a clue on specs. skinnyrat 0
i bought a generation 1 a couple o years ago,but its crap,i tried it once and its been in the box ever since,i keep meaning to put it on ebay,if you get a generation 3 ,this will be ok i think,i havnt seen one,but they were 1000 a touch a couple o years back, the one i got was about 200-300,and i was most disapointed,i strongly advise you not to jump straight in and get one(which obviously you arnt doing as your asking for advise) some of the lads may have had better experiences with them,im sure they will share them, good hunting SkinnyRat
Guest baldie
The problem doesnt lie with the monocular being crap, its the fact that the little ir illuminators on them are crap. Couple your monocular up to a lazalite with an ir filter, and its like bloody daylight mate, you will spot foxes well over 500 yards away , if they look at you, its like a pair of headlights
