I enjoyed reading both of those, nice one!

Cracking thread youve started lurcher lass.

Used to fancy myself as a bit of a poet when i was younger. Youve got me started again so i knocked this up tonight...

Morning mist, dew clustering in the grass,

Waters surface dead still, sun starting to rise at last.

Not seen movement since the evening before, when you took that carp from the surface,

A 2 hour fight, an energy sapping struggle, but every second was worth it.

The stork is watching, waiting, you know how he feels, waiting for the mornings catch,

But for you it’s a hobby, a sport, for him it’s his food, his life and he may have young about to hatch.

The smell of bacon fills the air; some others on the lake are cooking,

Can’t see through the mist but know they’re there, you just sit there looking.

Sun is up and bivvy’s away, session drawing to a close,

But the bite alarm screams, line streaming off, a better end to the trip you could not have chose.

Landing net in hand and strike on the rod, feeling the hook set in,

Mighty fish in the water and man on the land, both parties fighting to win.

Minutes pass and the carp is tiring, into safety you scoop her into your net,

And that’s the end, fish on the bank, and a smile on your face is set.
