the right dog for ferreting

ive just got 2 baby ferrets last nyt from exellent working stock so im going to start working them when they are old enough but im also wanting a dog to go a long side them so can you plz help my q's,

what sort of dog will i need for ferreting?

why that type of dog?

what will the dog be able to do?

how to use the dog propley?

my first choice would be pure whippet , have a look around for proper working stock though, after that would e the whippet beddy mix, the bitch in my avatar would be the type you would wanna go for mate , smaller whippet x greys are fine too as is the smallcollie crosses, with a whippet you wont go far wrong

Yes i agree with LL on this one.............if you want a purely ferreting dog then a good working whippet is ideal. If you want something for net work as well then Beddie/Whippet is my prefered choice. I have worked both for many years and the pure working whippet is hard to beat.........and a lot tougher than they may first appear. ;)
