Found this small set of front footprints this morning whilst checking mole traps........in a sand pile alongside a wood.

Any guesses would be welcome.........i am open to suggestions.

I honestly am not sure but they do look "ferret" like...........and there are some ferals around here....but maybe a bit small so was thinking along the lines of a stoat maybe?

Would ye believe, Rolfe; I genuinely can't remember how big (or small) a bloody english 'One Pence' is any more?!

I can tell ye though that moist sand like that will hold a cracking print - no distortion worth consideration. Thus it's my guesstimate that they may be a little big for stoat? I'd be happy to go with ferret

:hmm: Bloody tough one to call then, mate. Size fits a stoat, if that's how big the prints are. What ever it was, it had somewhere on it's mind, look. Were there no hind prints? (Not that that would tell me anything! Just being nosey and wondering what it was up to )

There were rear prints but very indistinct............so couldn't get decent picture of them.........but it could be a dog stoat.

I just like wondering what the creature was and what it was up too.........just facinated by prints thats all........always have been.
