lamping foxes

some time's [bANNED TEXT] me think's they are all towny fox's the rscpa has dumped in the loverly countryside  :D

I thought I was pretty much on top of the foxes on one of the places I go but one night I went there with a mate on his quad.He has a rifle rack mounted on the rack so I was able to take the .222 and the 12bore which I carried. We always open the gates on the way through the farm as its poultry and obviously all shut in at night. The gates are opened so that we can chase foxes on the quad without having to stop for gates. The remaining fox population is so wary on this farm ,that shooting with 12bore off the back of the quad is the best method at night.

Didnt see anything until we got to the main chicken sheds, where my mate picked out some eyes out in the middle of a grass pasture.Even in the main beam of his blazer light this fox was content to sniff the ground as if we wernt there. He was about 70yds out so I got off the quad and lent on a post, shot him stone dead.Nothing strange about that, obviously a new fox to the area which we both agreed on.

Across the road there is a block of 4 grass fields around a chicken unit and it was in the first of these that we saw the next fox.Quite surprised that the last shot never scared it off though.!.This fox too was also content to sniff about and wasnt at all bothered by the engine or the lamp.Got off and shot him at 90yds.Ken shone the lamp round from where we were and spotted another over the hedge.I crept to the hedge and led down in a gap with the lamp shining over my left shoulder .I was able to block out the glare in the scope by pulling my cap down hard over the eye piece.Shot this fox at 70yds.Couldnt believe are luck as this is a hard farm to see a fox let alone shoot 3 in 10 minutes.Drove on towards the other sheds and surprised another fox just inside a gate way. This one ran off but out towards the middle of the field.Ken made sure I was on the bike safely and tore off after it.Pulled up alongside of it and I bowled this one on the move.Foxes usually jink all over the place when chased but this one trotted in a straight line .We had them all legged on the back rack and as we were near the insinerator we decided to unload them there. As I undid the legs I noticed a "V" shaped cut between the back right toes of one of them.Foxes are slightly webbed on the back feet.Ken noticed the same on the one he undid and a look at the other two revealed the same. One of them was recently done ,not bleeding but red.We can only assume these were "Dumped" foxes and would explain the unusual behaviour.

Anybody else seen odd behaviour or cuts like this on the toes?

Not cuts like this but i help on a shoot and there is a fox release site just across one boundary. As they release the foxes they run straight across the road into a heavily snared fence. we caught 7 in a night (had to go back and get more cartridges) and 17 in that week. lol. f***ing cruel to release a 3 legged fox in the countryside. 6 or 7 of them had three legs. the rest just had toes or tails missing. Caught another three leg-er in a larsen trap in the summer!
